While you are there, try the wonderful salmon fishing on the river. You can go fishing with a guide that will take you out for a five or ten hour trip and experience the fishing trip of a lifetime. Battle the big salmon that run this river and come out a winner. Copper River also offers the ruins at the old Kennecott Copper Mine. Take a daily tour here and see Copper River as it was in days gone by and how the settlers lived their daily lives.
Worthington Glacier
Visit Worthington Glacier in the Thompson Pass, located in Copper River Valley or visit the Chugach, Wrangell. Here you will find the St. Elias Mountain Range, which is often referred to as the “mountain kingdom of North America”. Once you see it, you won’t need an explanation of the nickname. The sights are spectacular and unforgettable. It has the largest collections of glaciers and peaks above 16,000 feet. Here you will find St. Elias, which is the second highest peak in the United States as well as sweeping valleys, wild rivers and wildlife in abundance.
Copper River in winter is a true wonderland. Take a skiing trip or rent a snowmobile to see the many forms of wildlife that roam free. Take a helicopter ride to try and take in all of the sites at once. You will find the people very welcoming and eager to please.
