Fairbanks Cruise Information

General...
When you arrive in Fairbanks, Alaska you are entering a world of fun and excitement like you have never experienced before . This vibrant place is located 358 miles north of Anchorage and it is where the Alaska Highway ends and the true north begins. It is the focal point of all the tiny villages that are scattered throughout the north. This is where you will find the true heart of the north in the people that live here.

Come visit the place where the sun never sets during the summer or ever rises in the winter. Where the shortest day of the winter is three hours long and the longest day of the summer just never ends, which makes Fairbanks interesting in itself.

Activities...
Besides the abundance of beauty and wildlife in this beautiful place there are other things to do. In July, Fairbanks holds the world Eskimo-Indian Olympics. Here you can see traditional sports such as high kick, greased pole walk, stick pull, fish cutting and ear pulling contest. Of course you will also be privy to traditional native dancing.

Take a three-hour cruise on Chena and Tanana River. This will take you into the very heart of Alaska where you will see the wedding of two rivers. You will also gain insight into the cultural past of the Indian people that make this spectacular landscape their home.

Sightseeing...
Visit the El Dorado Gold Mine in the gold fields of the interior by taking a two hour rail ride there. Go through a permafrost tunnel and watch Alaska’s history come alive. Meet and talk with the miners of today and learn how different they operate now from what it used to be.

For an afternoon of fun and leisure, try the Alaskaland Pioneer Park, which is Alaska’s only frontier theme park. Enjoy all the entertainment that this 44 acre theme park has to offer. Drop into Photo Symphony Productions, where you will experience a dazzling multi image visual concert of Alaska’s northern lights in Ester. See ice carvers from around the world compete in ice art, which is a unique sight to see.

You still have the hunting, fishing, kayaking, rafting and so much more to enjoy in this great land. Then there is the scenery that only nature can provide in all her glory and glaciers that have been frozen in time for a million years. There is so much more that you will just have to return to this fair city and cover it all.
