Juneau Cruise Information

General...
When you are planning an Alaskan cruise, put Juneau on your list. You won’t want to miss this beautiful part of Alaska. With a mild maritime climate, the temperatures in the summer stay around 65 degrees F and even in winter they seldom drop below 20 degrees F. This makes this area very attractive any time of the year.

You won’t get the midnight sun here, though, as you do in the more northern parts of Alaska. Juneau is located in the Panhandle of southeast Alaska. You will find that this city offers many things to see and do on your trip there.

Activities ...

There is much to do in Juneau and one of the most interesting things is visiting the Mendenall Glacier, which is located about 14 miles from the down town area. You can reach this by taxi, bus, van, or why not take a helicopter ride. This would be an experience in itself and one that you will never forget.

There are many accessible trails for hiking. You can take a flight seeing tour through the ice fields and glaciers. Some of the helicopters actually land on the glacier to give you a chance to get up close and personal. It is a thrill of a lifetime for anyone that goes there. Take a chartered boat out fishing and catch some of the many fish that swim beneath the waves.

Sightseeing Downtown...
There is more to Juneau than the beautiful scenery. Visit the downtown and go to the Centennial Hall Convention Center to take a peek at its history. Visit the US Forest Service Information Center in Centennial Hall, which is located fairly close to your cruise ship dock. Here you can see displays, videos, and occasionally live performances. The Alaska State Museum offers tours and special interruptive tours for the hearing impaired.

The Juneau Douglas City Museum is another place where you can see exhibits and take a walk through Juneau’s past. After your day of fun, drop into one of the local restaurants for a bite to eat. Whatever you do while you’re in Juneau you will be astounded by the rugged beauty of this land and the spectacular sights that it offers. It will be memories that will last you a lifetime.
