Betancuria This town got its name after the French conquered Bethencourt and is located in the very center of the island. The land here is particularly fertile, which may be why the island settlement was founded in the first place. Take a walk back into time when you visit the Archaeological Museum , where you can see extraordinarily interesting remains of the original civilization, which was the Guanches. The Cathedral is a must on your itinerary. It was built in 1410 and has beautiful works in Mudejar- style. It also has unique painted choir stalls made out of wood of Canarian pine. This is a city that will take you back in time as you look at the beautiful works that surrounds you.
San Sebastian de la Gomera If you're looking for a picturesque town that is peaceful and quiet and away from the maddening crowds, then San Sebastian de la Gomera is waiting for your arrival. This quaint little town will give you good insights into what Spain is all about. While it is not too busy you will find there are many things that you will see. For example there are many things in San Sebastian to remind you of the days that Christopher Columbus stopped on his travel to America and received help from the widow of Grafen Peraza to repair one of its ships. The beaches of Gomera Gomera offers many small bays with fine sand and has a very steep coastal line. You can find an excellent beach with crystalline water in the picturesque small fishing village of Playa de Santiago. Travel to the exits of Valle Gran Rey to see the important plantations that lie within this valley. Puerto del Rosario Puerto del Rosario has been the capital of Fuerteventura since 1860. It's located near the airport and has a population of 18,000 friendly residents. This town developed into an important port during the 19th century. After taking the capital of the island from La Oliva the residents have never looked back. However, it wasn't until 1956 that the town was given the name Puerto del Rosario, which means the Port of the Rosary. A must-see is the church in the center of this town that is dedicated to the patron saint Virgin del Rosario.
You will certainly enjoy walking through this town and seeing the sights that it offers. The scenery is spectacular, especially the harbor area, which is the oldest part of town. Here you can see all kinds of boats on the clear blue water of the harbor. It is also here that you can find many alleys lined with old Canarian style houses. A must-see on your itinerary will be the former home of the exiled poet Miguel de Unanuno, which is now a museum. There is also a culture center where exhibitions, plays, and concerts are held. Puerto del Rosario has greatly improved over the years with a great variety of excellent shops to improve the shopping for tourist as well as the locals. This place is certainly worth seeing and worth the effort of taking a trip. The houses are unique and the scenery breathtaking. If you visit at the right time of the year you would be fortunate enough to take it one of the festivals that are held there. There is a very pleasant beach where the waves wash against the sand, but take heed of a word of warning. There are strong currents so when you go swimming here you have be very careful.
