Ibiza Ibiza is an island that is slightly over 500 km² in size, but has become one of the most famous islands on the planet. This is due partly to the music called the Balearic vibe, which has been on the front page of every newspaper for the last decade or more. This is an island that is a party destination with many sites to see and much to enjoy. With a climate that mostly averages 18 Celsius and a population of 111,482 friendly residents makes this is the ideal spot to spend the next vacation that you'll be taking. This island may be small but is very big on entertainment. You will find it actually impossible to drive in any one direction for more than half an hour without arriving back at the sea on the other side of the island. This island offers sports and adventure, quaint towns and villages, beaches and much more to make your stay the best experience you've ever had.
Tourist Attractions
Caves Can Marca The first site you will see is a panoramic view over the whole bay off the Puerto San Miguel, which is also known as Puerto Balanzat with the Murada Island in the background. Here you will find a unique species muratensis lizard with deep colors and prehistoric forms. As you go along the path cut up in the rocks, you will reach the mouth of the cave and you will now be 12 to 14 m above sea level. This is the starting point of your exciting visit to these caves. These caves are over 100,000 years old and have suffered ice ages and tropical heat waves, but at present time are almost fossilized except for the deep galleries. The wealth of these underground caves is in the geological forms where the waterbeds and cascades have been fossilized. There have been fossils and bones of extinct rodents found here and the skeletons have been sent to the Natural History Museum to be allowed to enrich the prehistoric fauna off the old Mediterranean lands.
Ibiza Pirate Towers These towers will give you the most spectacular coastal views of the island. The inspiration for these towers was the strategic position of the island midway between Africa and the European mainland. This island, in the past, attracted hungry invaders and pirates on a regular basis with its fertile soil, rich harvests and valuable salt and their far-flung population that could be sold as slaves. This was the main reason the people of the island wanted to protect their interests with a surveillance system. Thus, it led to the erection of these towers almost 3000 years ago. People were placed in these towers as lookout posts to warn of any impending danger. In the present day 15 of these towers can be found around the island coastline and there is a very impressive sight to see from every one of them.
