Vigo
Vigo is the largest city in Galicia , Spain and is located in the province of Pontevetra . It has a population of 293,725 friendly residents waiting to show you what they have to offer in this great city and to make your vacation an once-in-a-lifetime event. This city is well known for its fishing industry, food, cultural and nightlife. Vigo was not considered to be a real village until around the 15th century. This is when the earliest records began. It is a city that offers many activities for many different kinds of people. It has a climate that is certainly mild and inviting. It offers cultural activities, museums and much more to the people that enter its gates.
Tourist Attractions
Pazo de Castrelos You will find a number of beautiful sites throughout the city such as Pazo de Castrelos, which is a large wooded park with a house that has now been turned into a museum. Behind the house there is a formal box Garden and this is flanked by a terrace wall with roses along the walk. You will find walkways of magnolias and plane trees surrounding a romantic garden that has a tulip tree growing in it. This wonderful serene place is not only beautiful but holds an ambiance that you will find a very relaxing.
The New Town of Vigo The newer part of the city lies on the east side of the hill. It has modern tower blocks, broad avenues and absolutely beautiful parks. The main traffic areas are Avenida de Garcia Barbon and its continuation Calle de Policarpo Sanz on the northern slopes of the hill, Calle Urzaiz, which goes down the hill, and then you can continue on to Calle del Principe, which is the main commercial and shopping street in the city. Below Calle de Policarpo Sanz is the Plaza de Compostela, which holds a wonderful collection of numerous monuments. This continues eastward by the Avenita de Felipe Sanchez, which runs along the commercial harbor. You will enjoy taking a trip to this town and seeing all the sites it has to offer.
The Old Town of Vigo Vigo also has an old town and you may find this very interesting as it lies between the hill and the sea and is located to the northwest. It has narrow streets, which are usually steep and winding and here you will see a hint of the past in the houses and buildings that line these wonderful streets. It is like walking into the past when you walk through these and you will thoroughly enjoy seeing the sights around every corner.
