Welcome to Harper's review of the Thomson, Thomson Celebration. ReviewThatCruise.com is first for Thomson Celebration Reviews & Thomson Celebration ship reviews.
We have returned from the legend of the fjords cruise starting on 2 Sept this year. This was our first cruise but will not be our last.. i felt thoroughly looked after was pleasantly surprised how well organised and how high the quality was.
The food was excellent, I am a vegetarian but there was plenty of options for me, there are 3 choices of restaurant, there is an a la carte which you have to pay extra for, there is a waiter service restaurant and there is a 24 hour buffet. We only went to the 24 hour buffet as we could please ourselves when we went and picked what we wanted and went back for more of what we wanted, the service was so good I was a little overwhelmed.
The cabin crew and staff around the ship were very helpful and pleasant, all the little extras were there like a chocolate on our pillow at night. We didnt participate in the shows altough people were talking of how good they were, we prefered the quiet bars with piano or one of the bars that had quiz\'s .
The cabin was adeuate, there was plenty going on during the day for those times at sea, cinema cookery displays etc. We did a few excusrions they were a little expensive but so is Norway.. the tour guides were v good - we could not dock one afternoon were we should have met the ship but there was a problem in the port and our ship coulod not get in to meet us but it was all taken care of - they arranged further transport - stops for drinks and sandwiches and it appeared after a long day off ship we got a better deal as we saw a lot more of Norway than we expected. Norway is very beautiful but we very much enjoyed the cruising experience.
We had a Norweigan captain he was v amusing and as it was his home toen he was excited about showing us parts of Norway - one evening he put out an announcement that we should go up on deck as he had taken a detour and manoevered the ship through a very tight fjord - I almost felt that we could touch the mountains either side of us - it was quite amazing.
Drinks were reasonable bar prices and there is no issue with tipping as you pay with a card whcih you register at the start of holiday.
Altogether a very enjoyable experience thast we are still talking about regularly today.
