This is our 5th and last cruise on Carnival Cruise lines. We took a 12 day cruise on the Freedom in May-June 2008 and we are completing our current cruise as I write. We are currently sailing on the Miracle.
This was by far the WORST cruise of our life. Not once, not twice but THREE times we had bugs in our room. On the 4th day of our cruise we were awaken when I told my husband a bug was in our bed. He didn’t believe me until I turned on the lights and there it was. Between our pillows. We were told that the bugs came in from Ft. Lauderdale. We called the room steward and saved the hard shelled bug for him in a water glass with a note to have the room sprayed. Then on 7th day I had a migraine after the disappointing excursion to Altun ah. I pulled the covers back to lay down about 3:30 in the afternoon and BUG # 2 was on the sheets next to my pillow! This was a tiny spider like bug. We called room steward again and a bunch of people came. They looked it over and pulled the bed apart and sprayed ( just what you want to smell with a migraine. ) I got to wait out on the SMELLY deck with the jerks smoking on the balcony next to ours. They were smoking all the time. Talk about disgusting. They even got up during the night and went out to smoke. Then on Day 8 I began to empty the closets to pack the bags and BAM there was this HUGE COCKROACH crawling all over the inside. I called for the room steward again and got a couple of guys to come and kill the thing. Then after complaining about the bugs they offered to come in and “search” the room for nests. They tore everything apart but didn’t find any nests and I got the impression they felt I was somehow responsible for the bugs. Let me tell you my house, person, vehicles etc are clean enough to eat off the floors of so we weren’t the problem.
So between the mediocre food, the HORRIBLE STINK from all the SMOKERS and the BUG INFESTATION I would have to rank this as the Cruise from HELL! Good-bye Carnival NEVER AGAIN!
