In september 2006 we again cruised on the marco polo. Our last cruise on ship was 2005. The staff were freindly and good. entertainment generally had dropped a level and was poor on several nights.
The ports of call from le havre to barcalona were good,but the shuttle charges and corkage charges were exorbitent how can you charge $15per bottle brought on board when u have a 2 day stop at bordeaux and a day in oporto 2 visit vineyards. On board drinks were expensive. This is a 3* ship and should be pricing itself with others of that level.
This reveiw should not detract from the staff on board who go out of their way to be helpful.
Activities on board were fine and cabin good in relation to age of ship.
Positives
We did one excursion to monets garden and rouen for a day which cost $135 but was excellent value for money.
Negatives
The choice of food poo rbut well presented. Lots of chicken stews and cheap main cuts of meat.
Entertainment - Amateur night entertainers for caberet slots but excellent russian magitain who seemed to be on every other night.Mmusical shows good but lead singers poor!
