We made the best of it !However we would not use Costa Cruises again.Very expensive and could have been greatly improved with not to much effort.We read the previous reviews but went anyway .How wrong were we!!!Fellow passengers felt the same I only heard one positive feed back,one family had booked for may2008 but were cancelling.Having worked all year and looked forward to the cruise it definately did not come up to my expectations.
Positives
The staff were excellent by this i mean the waiters waitresses,cabin attendants,pool side attendants,commis chefs.Some of the entertainment staff.
Clean cabins,fresh towels.
Ports of call good,but !
Negatives
Lifts at our area of the ship ,one out of order most of the cruise.
Lack of information on ports of call,they were keen to sell their tours,which were very expensive,however not keen to give out much general information on ports.
Drinks on board were priced out of this world ! 20 pounds sterling for 2 beer and 2 shorts!!!!everything had an added service charge.Had the drinks been cheaper they woulc have sold many more ,we spoke to a great many other passengers who like us refused on principal to pay such inflated prices.
The service charge is added to your account and is fixed.We felt this was unfair as we like to tip our own staff .
As for the laundry again very expensive and not well done.
Finally the disembarkation was an absolute nightmare.Go to the ballroom at 20.00,no check don e just told to go to the baggage hall and collect our cases.The scramble to grt off the boat was horrific then a long walk to the baggage area on the bus and to the airport!!!!!
