Welcome to jean hunter's review of the Thomson, Thomson Destiny. ReviewThatCruise.com is first for Thomson Destiny Reviews & Thomson Destiny ship reviews.
This was our 1st cruise experience I travelled with my
partner Robert and son steven and daughter lauren
we choose the colourful coasts itinery which visited
tenerife morocco lanzarote palma maderia and gran canaria, we joined the ship in maderia the weather
in november was fantastic hot enough to get a tan,
We choose the all inclusive drinks package which
saved us loads of money onboard. The ship had
a fantastic resturaunt with waiter service with choice
of meals displayed outside each day for lunch and dinner. You could also choose to eat al fresco buffet
style at almost anytime of the day on the top deck
with a fantastic view of the sea. Breakfast was buffet
no matter which dining option you chose with a great
choice everything from full english to healthy options
available. The cabin we chose was a 4 berth inside
which for 2 adults and 2 grown children was very
compact to say the least. But the maid service was
great, out maid folded our towels into swans and
various other shapes as well as keeping the cabin
spotless. Room service was available at a small
charge including breakfast in bed. The showers were
powerful and towels were changed daily. Lifts or stairs
took you to all decks, during the daytime there was
the pool to go to or plenty of deck area to sunbathe
there was also the internet cafe and most days the
reps gave tips and talks on the next port of call, there
was also ice sculpture displays napkin origami ,barbeques afternoon teas , bingo and the shops to visit where you could buy duty free cigs etc
designer perfumes many destiny products from fridge
magnets to dressing gowns and also anything you
may have forgotten to pack shampoo etc, another
shop sold dresses and accesories. There was the
beauty salon offering everything from haircuts to
massage etc. The reception offered a currency exchange and excursion service too. There was the library or the piano bar a quiet bar with a piano player
and comfy sofas and most people sitting reading
with frothy capochinos or my favourite hot chocolates
topped with cream and choc flakes. At night after dinner
we usually went into see the show which changed each
night then onto the can can lounge which had great
bands and audience particiaption shows such as
mr & mrs etc changing to a disco later 24hr hour
dining with great food from indian chinese etc served
on top deck at lido bar. Then their was the captains dinner where everyone dressed up about half wore long dresses I wore a cocktail dress which did not look out of place at all. Men could were anything from a suit to full tuxedo. after the captains dinner we spent some time at the casino losing money .Every morning a cruise newspaper was posted under the cabin door with
all the ship news of the day including my favourite
the cocktail of the day, excursion news etc and details
of what was happening on each deck of the ship for that day.
Positives
The food the all inclusive drinks package the waking up in a new destination each day, the staff and visiting
new places which gave me an idea of the ones I would
like to return too.
