Welcome to thomas rice's review of the Cunard Line, Queen Elizabeth 2. ReviewThatCruise.com is first for Queen Elizabeth 2 Reviews & Queen Elizabeth 2 ship reviews.
we sailed on the Victoria on 14th april ex Southampton we had 3 suit cases and booked in @ 1230 ish we were all unpacked by 1400 as when we got to stateroom all our luggage was there. At first glance of room it was very clean and 1/2 a bottle of bubbly was waiting this we liked, the 1st impression of the interior certainly had the wow facture as it has beautiful stylish walkways with wood effect this i think looked good, The theatre is very impressive as it is made to look like a victorian one holding up to 850 people with boxes we werent over impressed with the shows the 2nd sitting we were on was a table of 8 we enjoyed the company but 2 nights we never attended .The todd english restaurant had a cover charge of 30 dollars per head but the meal and service was excellent well worth the money plus the experience i liked it better than marco Whites on Ventura as i perferred the menu it was more to my taste. One thing yhat sticks in my mind is that the juices ie Orange etc were always of a good quality and available all day plus there was a very wide choice of hot drinks ie hot chocolate ovaltine etc for those that didnt just want tea & coffee. the Cabin steward we had was very efficent in as much that we hardly ever saw him he kept everything perfect plus all soaps and shampoos etc were alls replaced regular. the weather down to the Canaries and madeira wasnt that good it was a bit choppy both ways but the sun did shine at Tenerife and lanzerote i thought that the sail into port of vigo Spain was a lovely attractive setting but as the weather was poor again it spoilt it a little. the staff on the Victoria were very polite and i was pleased that while in any bars etc they didnt keep pesturing by asking if you wanted another drink? The quality of the food in the Brittania restaurant was excellent it is we think the best food we have had on a cruise ship but i havent really had any bad meals on any in the past. The bed in the stateroom very comfortable as were the pillows. The afternoon tea was very traditional as in white gloves etc and also the Queens room in the evening was popular with the couples ballroom dancing all in all we both enjoyed our cruise on Victoria.
Positives
Dinning was excellent and didnt queue very long for anything.
Negatives
There was an outbreak of tummy upset after a couple of days so lots of waiting in the lido to be served and traditional afternoon tea had to be served on trays.
I thought there wasnt enough for everybody to do in the evenings.
