Sail off into the sunset with this wonderful ship called Arcadia from P & O Cruise Lines.. This is a ship that has something for everyone. It was launched in 2005 with a crew of 880 and you will find that they are there to make yours a cruise that will go down in the history of your mind and be talked about long after you have returned home. It carries 1952 passengers into the cruise of their dreams. Although the ship is not geared for children it can give any adult the kind of cruise they are looking for. Service is excellent as well as the food and the entertainment is beyond compare.
Accommodations
Arcadia offers a higher portion of balconies than any other ship in the fleet. There are 984 state rooms that have verandas. There are 67 suites and mini suites, 10 different grades of outside state rooms and 70 inside the accommodations, range in size from 170 ft.² to standard cabins which are 254 ft.². The alternate accommodations are 380 ft.² mini suites and 516 ft.² suites that include balconies.
The outside cabins have small baths or showers whereas the inside ones have showers only. They also have twin or doubled beds, personal safes, direct phones, hair dryers and flat screen TVs. The suites and mini suites also have Jacuzzi baths, separate shower cubicles and DVD players. These cabins are very roomy with lots of storage space and in some of them a bathrobe is provided. You will find them very comfortable and cozy.
Dining
The ship\'s main dining room is the Meridien Restaurant, which is located in the stern of the ship and spans two decks. The highlight of this is a central circular double stairwell with beautiful glass designs set into the ceiling. This restaurant can be used at any time. It is attractively decorated and offers a wide range of foods for casual dining. You can start your day here with breakfast and dine again at lunchtime and certainly in the evening. For those that are watching calories, your choice of food is provided. Tables for two may be a difficult to find, but there are also tables for six, eight or 10 diners.
For those of you that like elegant dining Arcadia offers the Orchard Restaurant, which is a large windowed elegant space with black, white, gold and terra-cotta decor. Here you can enjoy an intimate table for two and excellent Oriental food although there is a surcharge for dining here. The wine is in a very reasonable price range in any of the restaurants on the ship. The elegant Arcadian Rhodes restaurant will give you the chance to sample TV chef Gary Rhodes menu. In this restaurant you will find snowy white tablecloths, wood veneered walls and beautiful decorations. Both the presentation and the taste of the food are excellent and you can have it prepared to your taste.
Entertainment
There is plenty to amuse you in the Palladrium Theatre, which spans the stern deck of decks two and three. Here you will find musicals such as the “Knights of Rock \'n Roll”, “the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber” and “Best of the West End”. They\'re also classical musical recitals and big band jazz concerts offered here. The Globe Cabaret Theatre also offers a late night comic for your entertainment.
If you want a night of excitement drop into the casino or karaoke sessions that take place here. The Rising Sun Pub is a place where you can drink in peace and it\'s a small cozy area outside the casino. Arcadia offers art auctions, the Piccadilly shopping area, and much more to keep you busy on your cruise.
The Oasis Spa on Lido Deck has a large gymnasium with 10 treadmills, four bikes, three rowers and four cross trainers. At the other end of the deck is the Aquarius pool which has two whirlpools and lots of sun bathing space. There is also a pool called Neptune which has a bar. This spa offers a hydrotherapy pool, aromatic steam roam, heated loungers and scented showers.
The Arcadia is an adult only ship and no bookings are accepted under the age of 18. There are two formal nights and that is for the Captains welcome and farewell and the rest of the time the dress code is casual or smart casual. Tipping on this ship is three GBP per person per day for the cabins Stewart and the waiter and other tips are at your own discretion.
