Brilliance of the Seas Description

Brilliance of the Seas

Royal Caribbean has done an amazing job of taking something old and making it new with the second of their mid-size Radiance class ships. The Brilliance of the Seas is a combination of the best features of the mega-sized ships with the somewhat smaller class ships.

When you first look at this ship you may feel intimidated. The sound of cash register bells may be ringing in your ears because there are some additional costs that you may incur. If you wish to use the fitness centers you can expect to pay ten dollars for yoga and as much as ten dollars to watch a movie. Brilliance of the Seas does offer some great beverage packages that can be purchased. The prices vary depending on the desired beverages and there are special for adults and children.

While on board Brilliance of the Seas you can feel comfortable in your casual clothes during the day but it is a different story in the night. During the evening passengers are expected to dress in “smart” casual clothes such as sundresses and pant suits for the women and collared shirts for the men.

Brilliance of the Seas expects its passengers to pay gratuities daily. There are various rates throughout the ship depending on the services you take advantage of. For example, it is recommended that passengers pay $3.50 per person per day to the dining room wait staff.

Accommodations

There is a wide range in accommodations on board the ship. Standard inside cabins have a standard ocean view. Cabins may or may not come with balconies. These cabins range from “deluxe” to “superior”. In every cabin there are two twin beds that easily convert to a queen size bed. The balcony staterooms come equipped with a mini bar, television, a desk and a vanity. In some rooms you may find a sitting area. Each balcony comes furnished with nylon mesh furniture. Family rooms are available on Brilliance of the Seas. However, these rooms go fast so it is recommended that you book well in advance - a year ahead is good.

Dining

Passengers have a wide selection of dining rooms while traveling aboard the ship. For those looking for variety, you have the Windjammer Café. This daytime eatery is open for breakfast, lunch and informal dinners. While dining the passengers can take advantage of the onsite bar where they can serve themselves. An interesting fact is that the Windjammer offers its patrons a twenty-four hour beverage station with water, tea and coffee.

Passengers looking for a more formal sit down dinging experience may visit the two alternative restaurants. These small, upscale dining areas require that passengers pay a twenty dollar fee per person. Each restaurant offers an elegant six-course meal. Room service is available twenty-four hours a day for those wishing to dine in the comfort of their room. The room service menu however, is basic with salads, burgers and sandwiches.

Entertainment

Entertainment on board Brilliance of the Seas varies between day and night. During the day there are traditional activities such as bingo, art auctions and various games throughout the ship. During the night however, things begin to come alive. The Pacific Theatre offers major productions. There are various musical performances given daily.

While on board you can work out and keep fit by visiting Brilliance Ship Shape Center. There is an on site fitness director that leads well-attended workouts. If relaxation is what you’re looking for then you must visit the spa. However, spa services may cost extra depending on the service desired.

Children of all ages will be entertained while on board the Brilliance. Kids programs run daily for various ages. While in port, the children can take part in many day trips that are available. In each room, the televisions have come equipped with a dedicated children’s channel. Babysitting services are available during the night. Children must be three years or older and must be potty trained. The babysitters can be hired for a fee of five dollars per hour per child.
