Carnival Destiny Description

Carnival Destiny

Able to carry a maximum of 3400 passengers, Destiny is one of the cruise ships owned by Carnival Cruise Lines. It was built in 1996 and went into service the same year. This ship has 12 decks, each with something wonderful in store for those that choose this chip for the ultimate vacation. If you are looking for a ship with the best possible nightlife, then this is the one for you. It is one of the largest cruise ships afloat and boasts one of the largest casinos as well as a well-maintained spa and fitness center. With a wide range of activities geared to every age and taste, this cruise is guaranteed to be one that you will remember for all the right reasons. It sails year round to ports in the southern Caribbean, including such ports of call as Aruba, San Juan, Dominica and St. Thomas. This cruise is geared toward the younger set and a mix of singles, couples and families with children.

Accommodations

On the Destiny, the cabins with balconies are somewhat smaller than on other Carnival Cruise Lines ships. This is to allow for the extra space of the balcony and to provide the passengers with an unobstructed view. There are 48 balcony suites and 432 cabins with a balcony. However, there are 322 cabins with just a view of the ocean and what a view it is. If you prefer not to see the ocean, there are over 500 inside cabins to choose from.

All the bathrooms, whatever accommodations you choose, are quite spacious. They contain showers, a medicine cabinet and a hair dryer, so this is one item you don’t have to find room for in your luggage. In addition, the bathroom amenities are provided free of charge. If you are not sure exactly what clothes to bring with you, you don’t have to worry about space. You will find ample closet and drawer space to hold all that you wish to unpack. Read in bed with the convenience of reading lamps and if you wish the standard twin size beds can be converted to one kin g size bed. However, you do have to make this request when you book the cruise. The self-service laundry room has all the coin-operated equipment you need to keep your clothes fresh and clean.

Dining

With two dinner seatings in tables or four and eight, you will find either the London or Paris dining rooms to your liking. While there is assigned seating for dinner, lunch and breakfast feature open seating. There are only a few tables for two available, so it is advisable to book these in advance. Even as you dine, you will be entertained by singing waiters and dancing busboys. The menus vary nightly and from cruise to cruise.

In addition to the main dining rooms, for breakfast and lunch you can brave the lines at the Sun and Sea, which is a buffet adjacent to the pool. There is also a hamburger grill and Asian and Mexican stations to choose from. If you like dining later than usual, you can enjoy the 24 hour pizzeria or the Ceasar salad station.

Entertainment

The Palladium Lounge offers the ultimate in production shows with state of the art laser lights and sound effects. Some seats are better than others, so it is best if you arrive early to get the full effect of the show. Other nightly entertainment includes trying your luck at the tables, even though the Millionaires Casino does open at 8 a.m. each day. For something to soothe your soul, try the singalong piano bar or if you like dancing, the Point After Dance Club offers video monitors and a high octave sound system. If you prefer to just sit and listen, music is piped into the Onyx Bar, which is equipped with the most comfortable chairs. Jazz is the name of the game at the Down Beat Lounge and sports enthusiasts will surely want to stop in at the All Sports Bar with the large screen TVs. Midnight shows for those liking late nights are available at the Criterion Lounge, which can seat 440 people.

You don’t have to miss your daily workout while on the Destiny with the fully equipped Nautical Spa. Choose your favorite workout equipment or routine, take part in aerobics or soak in the whirlpool. With trained instructors, you can get started on your own fitness routine or enjoy jogging on an outdoor track. Learn the game of golf or practice your skills or just laze around the pool. All of these activities are here for you to enjoy.

Family

For families on a cruise, Destiny offers Camp Carnival with four different age groupings. There is a play room, outside play area and a separate pool for the younger children. Group babysitting is also available for parents wishing to take in some or all of the nightlife onboard.
