You can be assured of the latest in cruise ship trends as this ship was built in 2005. There is a whole host of themed lounges and bars, four restaurants, two pools, many duty-free shops and even a nightclub just for teens. If you like a wacky and high energy theme, then Carnival Liberty is the chip for you. Designed for vacationers and families of all ages, this ship sails to exotic destinations, such as the Eastern and Western Caribbean, Europe and the Western Mediterranean. With its outstanding service, this is one cruise ship that you will realize is exceptional in every way.
Accommodations
The cabins are larger that those you would normally expect to find on a cruise ship. This gives you plenty of room to move around and relax. With a large number of cabins containing a balcony, you can en joy the ocean air as you sail along. Even if you don’t book a cabin with a balcony, you can still enjoy the view of the ocean from your cabin. The inside cabins are just as spacious, so if having your own space is an issue, you don’t have to worry. Beds easily convert from twin to queen or king to accommodate your needs. Enjoy pay per view movies, interactive TV and an incabin Internet wireless system. No waiting in line at the Internet café – all you have to do is remember to brin g your laptop. The bathrooms contain stand up showers and the usual array of free amenities at the start of the cruise. Towels are provided, but if you shower a lot, it’s best to bring a few of your own.
Dining
The two main restaurants have seated dinners, but there is open seating for breakfast and lunch. The menu offered varies each day and no matter what your tastes are in food, you will find something to suit your palette. Whether you choose the Sliver Olympian Restaurant or the Golden Olympian, you will have the same menu choices. Emile’s is a two level restaurant offering buffet style service in cafeteria lines. There is also a sandwich station as well as a Fish and Chips station on this level. Enjoy the specialty coffees at Jardin Café or sushi from the Origami Sushi Bar in the evenings. You do need to make reservations to dine at Harry’s Supper Club at the rate of $30 per person. In spite of the cost, you will find that the food served here and the extensive wine list is well worth the money you spend. For those that get hungry late at night there is a midnight buffet as well as 24 hour room service.
Entertainment
On any cruise, the pool is the focal point of activity during the day and sailing on the Carnival Liberty is no different. It also has the usual line up of daily activities, such as bingo, seminars and shopping, as well as shore excursions in the various ports of call. The Venetian Palace is the setting for the three funky shows onboard, all of which are in Vegas style. Liberty is the first ship to offer an outdoor movie screen, which towers over the pool area and plays both day and night. During the day, you can enjoy music videos, while the movies play at night. There is a wide range of bars and lounges along the Promenade Deck. This area is laid out like a street in a city, so you feel as if you are actually bar hopping on land. Each one features a different décor to give the impression that you have traveled through several countries, rather than just next door. Sing along or dance to the tunes of past decades in the piano bar, entertain your fellow passengers (or be entertained) at the karaoke bar or sip wine in comfort at the Paparazzi Bar.
If fitness is important to you, the Spa Carnival health and fitness area has the usual array of fitness equipment. There are also classes for you to take, such as Yoga and Pilates. For children, the Camp Carnival has supervised activities so that you can enjoy your day without having children complain of boredom. Musical programs, hands-on science experiments, as well as a host of recreational activities are sure to keep all members of the family occupied and entertained. The teen disco is a popular spot where teens can enjoy their own brand of music and it is located only a few doors down from the adult disco. Group babysitting is also available at reasonable rates, but you do have to book in advance.
Two formal nights on the Liberty mean that you do have to bring dress attire. On this ship, the majority of men wear tuxedos on these occasions and you can rent one onboard. Casual dress is the name of the game during the rest of the cruise, especially during the day.
