Sail the Mexican Riviera and have a holiday to remember whether you are travelling on the Carnival Pride as a couple, with your children or by yourself. As one of the fun ships in the Carnival line, this ship is well suited to children offering exciting adventures for children of all ages. It was launched in 2002 and is one of the dual azipod driven ships. The interior decorator really went all out with the Beauty icons placed throughout the ship, which the over 1000 passengers can thoroughly enjoy. The crew is very accommodating and cheerful, ready to lend a hand whenever necessary.
Accommodations
It is not hard to see why all the accommodations on the Carnival pride are called staterooms. The décor of the room lets you know right away that you are taking a cruise where everything is designed for your relaxation and enjoyment. Hairdryers are included as well as a lighted make-up mirror and the desktop holds a television, safe, ice bucket and glasses. There is even a small storage cupboard beside the bed in case you get the munchies.
Although there is ample closet space with lots of hangars, shelf space is at a premium. The bathrooms are roomy with the standard fare of toiletry products supplied at the beginning of the cruise. You won’t have any difficulty reading in bed with the ample lighting provided and there are terry towel robes provided for all passengers.
There is also a vast difference between the inside and outside cabins. Whereas an outside cabin is roomy, the inside rooms tend to be somewhat smaller. Although the bathrooms are the same size, these cabins do not have a desk, so you have no shelf space whatsoever. If you do have a cabin with a balcony, you do have to be aware that there is a lack of privacy as the passengers on the balcony above can see you.
Dining
Carnival Pride has only one main restaurant, the Normandy, but there are two sittings for dinner. The menu is superb with choices ranging from prime cuts of beef, low carb foods, salads and spa foods. The portions you receive are more than generous, so you won’t complain of being hungry. Dancing during the meal is common and you will see the staff taking a turn around the dance floor as well.
Indulge in one of the overstuffed sandwiches at the sandwich station or feast on Oriental cuisine. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and fare from around the world are standard at the various stations positioned around the ship. In addition, there is a 24-hour pizzeria and 24-room service. If you would like to have breakfast delivered to your room, just hang the sign outside your room the night before and food will be there at the designated time.
David’s Supper Club is an alternative restaurant where you can enjoy an intimate meal and the steak you get at the Porterhouse will certainly fill you up. No matter where or when you decide to eat, all the food served on the pride is fresh and prepared to perfection.
Entertainment
You will feel as if you are in Las Vegas with the wealth of entertainment provided for passengers on this cruise ship. The Taj Mahal Theatre is the setting for full scale productions and with three floors of seating, you will have an excellent view of the stage. There are many different bars where you can find the music of your choice or even feel as if you are on a pub crawl when you try to visit them all. The enormous casino has every kind of gaming table available if you want to see how lucky you are.
With three small pools and one large one, you will not have any difficulty taking a swim onboard. One of the smaller pools is designed for kids and has all the equipment to keep the kids engaged for hours. The spa area consists of two levels complete with treatment rooms and classes in aerobics and workouts. Get your hair done, take a jog on the track or even try the golf cage to keep you in sync with your game.
This is a ship built for children and with the multitude of activities, you won’t have to worry that the children will complain of boredom. The Fun Club has programs for all ages and an outdoor play area complete with toys. There are shore excursions designed just for teens as well as dances where they can socialize with their own age group.
With only two formal nights, the major part of this cruise allows you to dress very casually. Shorts and tank tops are not permitted in the main dining room, but they are acceptable everywhere else on the ship.
