Carnival Triumph is one cruise ship where the fun never stops. There is so much to see and do that you won’t even realize that the cruise is over and will not want to leave the ship. This is not the ship to choose if you are looking for peace and quiet on your vacation, although there are places where you can relax and have time to yourself. In spite of the crowds and the noise, there is an amazing number of families on this cruise mainly because of the wide range of children’s activities it offers. The theme of the ship is to bring you the greatest vacation ever, with the names of the best vacation destinations in the world as the labels for the various rooms. Entertainment is the name of the game so if this is what you are looking for, then this Carnival cruise ship triumphs over all the others – hence the name.
Accommodations
If you have a balcony stateroom, you will have plenty of room to move around. In addition to a king size bed, you also have a sofa that can convert to a twin bed. The furniture on the patio lets you watch the ocean and have some time to yourself as you sail along. Even the inside cabins are spacious, so you won’t feel cramped. There is ample closet space, but there is a lack of shelves and drawers. This, however, is the only drawback to the rooms. The bathrooms are quite large and come with the usual array of toiletry products. Although there are hair dryers provided, it is advisable to bring your own as the ones on the ship are quite old.
Dining
With two main dining rooms, the London and the Paris, there is plenty of room for seating for dinner. Although there is assigned seating for this meal, breakfast and lunch are open seating allowing you to sit where you please. If you want to avoid a long line for dinner, take a few extra minutes and arrive a bit late. Then you won’t have to wait. The menu is varied throughout the cruise and the most recommended fare is the meat, as most passengers are a little disappointed in the fish dishes. There is also a spa menu, although it doesn’t vary much each night. For families, there is a children’s menu, which always goes over well.
If you prefer buffet for meals, the South Beach Club serves casual meals. The New York Deli serves authentic deli food and because of this, you may experience long lines. The Coney Island Grill features fast food and the Vienna Café always has sweet treats on the menu. Salads and sandwiches are available from room service 24 hours a day and you can preorder your breakfast to be delivered at a specific time. In addition, you can get ice cream and frozen yogurt round the clock.
Entertainment
Avid readers will want to check out the library or spend some time in this peaceful area. However, you can only check out books at specific times. The Oxford Lounge is the smoking area where you can also curl up with a good book. Keep in touch with the office or those at home at the Internet Café and in the evening, the Casino and the Sports Bar are the places where most of the action takes place. Enjoy a glass of wine at the California Wine Bar or sing along with the piano at the Big Easy Piano Bar. Dancing is the venue at the Venezia Lounge, but if you want something a little wilder, then the Hollywood Dance Club might be more to your taste.
The Rome Lounge has three decks and this is the venue for the big-stage productions. With two main shows, there is ample seating, but some of the views of the stage are obstructed. It is best to get there early to get a good seat. Live music plays on the Triumph all during the day as well. A late night adult’s only comedy show allows those that like late nights to get their fill of entertainment or you might like to entertain your fellow passengers with some karaoke.
With four pools on the triumph, it is not hard to take a long or short dip. The children love the slide in the pool on Deck 10, but there is also a wading pool for the little ones. The gym is exceptional with all the latest fitness equipment and classes in aerobics, Pilates, yoga and more. If you prefer the great outdoors for your fitness routine, there is an outdoor jogging track. Have a massage, get your hair done or go shopping. For parents the Generation Y camp offers various programs for children of all ages and even the children can enjoy spa treatments. The 1300-sq. foot play area is a hit with families and there are babysitting services available in the evening for a small fee. Some of the adventures that kids can enjoy include talent shows, slumber parties, and teen dances.
