If you want a cruise where the nightlife is hopping, then the Carnival Victory is the ship for you. It is known far and wide for its Vegas type shows and the huge casino. Even though it does boast a vibrant nightlife, it does also offer one of the best children’s programs at sea. Therefore, families will find everything they need to take that well deserved vacation together. Sail to the Bahamas, the Eastern or Western Caribbean or even a Cruise to Nowhere. Whether you are travelling alone, with a significant other or as a family, you will find something on this ship for you. The main age group of passengers taking this cruise is ages 20 – 45, but during school vacations there is a high percentage of families.
Accommodations
The outside cabins have an unobstructed view of the ocean and the balconies are quite large. Even the inside cabins are quite spacious. The bathrooms, too, are large with showers, a hair dryer and a medicine cabinet. Along with terry towel bathrobes, the Victory also supplies free toiletries. There is a television in every room and you will have ample room to unpack with the closet and drawer space provided. If you prefer a queen bed, the twin beds can be converted upon request and there are washing machines and dryers on every deck.
Dining
With two seatings for all meals, there is ample room in the two main dining rooms – the Atlantic and the Pacific. Along with meat and potatoes meals, there are also specialty nights, such as Lobster and gourmet dishes. The waiters provide nightly entertainment, which really helps you have an enjoyable meal. The Mediterranean Restaurant serves casual dinners and breakfast buffets. You can dine on Asian food at the Yangtze Wok or enjoy fresh deli sandwiches at the East Side Deli. If you like hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries, then the Grill will be the station you need. In addition, you can have salad, pizza and sandwiches 24 hours a day.
Entertainment
Vegas style shows are the venue at the Caribbean Lounge with two shows created especially for the Victory. Sing along with the piano at the Irish Sea Bar or dance to the music at the Club Arctic. At the Adriatic Lounge you can take in late night comedy shows and if you are an avid sports fan, you will definitely want to make an appearance at the Aegean Sports Bar. The South Seas Casino is one of the largest casinos afloat and there is an abundance of smaller salons and stores.
The Nautical Spa is also one of the largest spas on any cruise ship. There are four pools and the 214-foot water slide at the King of the Sea pool is one of the most popular places on the ship. Topless sunbathing is permitted on the top deck and with the retractable ceiling, Siren’s Pool is also very popular. The gym houses just about every type of exercise equipment you can mention and personal trainers are available for an extra charge.
Families can take advantage of the many children’s programs geared to specific age groups. Experienced counsellors supervise all the activities and babysitting is available at night for parents wanting to take in some of the action.
Although there are two formal nights on the cruise, this ship enjoys a more casual dress than most. You are not permitted to wear jeans or shorts in the main dining room, although passengers do tend to dress up a bit in the night.
