Welcome to the Celebration reviews section, here we have Celebration ship reviews, Celebration cruise reviews, ship details and ratings by other cruisers. ReviewThatCruise.com - First for Celebration cruise reviews & Celebration ship reviews.
The Celebration is the second oldest ship of the Carnival fleet, but it underwent a major overhaul in 2003. This hip offers you the best in laid back traditional cruising with the most modern amenities to suit passengers of all ages. If you are looking for a no-frills cruise, then this is the ship for you. With four and five day cruises to the Bahamas, you can enjoy the warm weather all year round.
Accommodations
There are not as many cabins sporting verandas on the Celebration, but more than half of the cabins do have an ocean view. There are 10 suits with a whirlpool tub, a separate sitting area and a refrigerator in addition to the walk in closet. All cabins have twin beds that easily convert to a king size bed. Even though there is a TV, it is mounted on a shelf, which makes it difficult to see from the bed. Although the lighting is good, the switches are not placed in the most convenient spots.
There is a hair dryer provided, but it is best if you bring your own. There are safes in each room and bathrobes are provided. Although you can control the air conditioning, if you are short you may find it difficult to do so as the controls are on the ceiling. Bathrooms are spacious and the usual array of amenities is provided at the beginning of the cruise.
Dining
The seatings are traditional at the two main dining rooms – the Vista and the Horizon. However, there is plenty of time in between the seatings so that if you decide to dine early, you don’t have to rush. There are very few tables for two, so if you want an intimate dinner for two, then you may be out of luck. Open seating prevails for breakfast and lunch. The meals served for dinner include just about every kind of food you can imagine.
If you prefer casual dining, then choose the Wheelhouse Bar and Grill. With outside seating, you can enjoy the view as you dine. The salad and dessert bars are away from the main buffet, so you won’t have to stand in line. This is also the location of the 24-hour pizzeria, with fresh pies and Caesar salad in addition to the pizza.
Bourbon Street is located in the promenade area and features a sushi bar as well as a selection of freshly made rolls. You can also avail of the 24 hour room service, although the selections are limited.
Entertainment
Enjoy the feel of New York along Bourbon Street, where you can play cards or read during the day or enjoy live entertainment at night. Most of the lounges and bars are accessible from this street and there are arcade games at Galax-Z. With 180 slot machines, the Rainbow Casino is one place where you can dance with lady Luck and perhaps win big. Sing along with the piano music at the Red Hot Piano Bar, but this is the only smoking room on the ship so it may be a bit too smoky for your liking. Check out a book from the Admiral’s Library or keep, in touch with home at the Internet Café. Shop the selections in the stores of Holiday Square, which is somewhat like a sidewalk café.
Stage productions are always well attended and you may find one you really want to attend twice. The Astra Lounge does have ample seating, but to ensure the best seats in the house, you should plan to arrive early. If you like comedy acts, then take in the show at the Endless Summer Lounge, which is also the venue for the daytime activities.
With three pools and a whirlpool, you will have plenty of space for swimming or sunning. There is also a wading pool just for children. Although there is a salon, it is quite small. However, you will be really pleased with the exceptional service you receive. A small gym has treadmills and other exercise equipment to allow you to keep in shape on the cruise.
Since the major portion of the passengers on Celebration is families with children, it is little wonder that there is a superb children’s program. Ice cream parties, scavenger hunts, and singalongs are quite common. There is also group babysitting available in the evenings.
During the day the dress code is quite casual and there is one formal night on the cruise. You will have to dress up a bit for dinner in the main dining rooms, but this is still casual. Tips are usually added to your bill.
