This ship that joined Coasta’s fleet in 1992 and was refurbished in 2001 is ready and waiting to show you how a cruise happens. The plain outside belies the look of what lies inside waiting for passengers and the 8 passenger decks that are named after such artist as Van Gogh, Gauhquin, Lautrec, Modigliani, Degas, Rousseau and Monet will give you a hint of what you will see inside. This ship is bright and beautiful as you step onboard. Passengers will find it elegant as well as whimsical with dramatic paintings, sculptures, graphics, wall hangings, and handmade crafts makes this ship striking and homey at the same time. With its crew of 450 you will find that there is a friendly attentive crew member for every two passengers to ensure that you will not be waiting for anything on your trip will make this the cruise of a lifetime.
Accommodations
The Costa Allegra has 410 accommodations in total. 13 of these have no balconies, 205 have an ocean view with no balconies and there are 192 inside cabins to choose from. There are three suites at the front of the ship that can easily accommodate 5 to 6 guests each, which gives you lots of room to roam. These include wet bars, whirlpool baths, showers, original art and tapestries, but no verandas. However, you will find a beautiful view and hand stitched bedspreads.
The ten mini Suites have perks of their own. With 376 square feet in size these rooms do have verandas, whirlpools, showers, a mini bar, elegant furnishings, a sitting area where you can watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets and your own butler, which have all the ingredients for a unforgettable trip.
Staterooms are from 146 to 156 square feet and are cosy and comfortable with tastefully decorated furnishings in cheerfully designer fabrics. This will give you that yacht like feeling as you sail into the sunset. You can also choose from one of the 137 ocean view and113 inside cabins, which are standard staterooms with two single beds. 11 of the ocean view rooms have queen size beds and you will find there are 8 inside cabins to accommodate those with disabilities. So as you can see there is something for everyone’s budget.
Dining
Your tummy is in for a treat with the food that is served in the 462 seat Restaurant Montmartre. Start your day with a delightful casual breakfast and then follow through to lunch in the same atmosphere. The entry at this restaurant will leave you breathless with its striking hand cut marble stone surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. The food itself will be nothing less than delicious cooked by graduates of European’s culinary school. You will also find a children’s menu that will take care of smaller appetites in delightful ways.
Entertainment
If you are a die hard shopper you will be thrilled to know that the Costa Allegra has an elegant promenade that is lined with different boutiques that will take care of your daily needs and more.
If you feel like taking a walk with lady luck then try your luck at the Monte Carlo Casino, where you can choose from gaming tables of Blackjack and Roulette to slot machines. If this is not to your taste, then stand in line when they hand out Togas for the Costa Toga Party. Enjoy the Folies Bergere Showroom that is wrapped in vivid colour and will thrill you with the entertainment shown there. Drop by the Flamingo Ballroom or the Crystal Club Disco for an evening of fun and relaxation.
If you have the children with you on this cruise, then you won’t be disappointed with what is available for them such as The Children’s Centre, where you can find programs for any age. You can get group babysitting from ages 3 and up for those times when you want to have a special evening to yourselves.
This ship also offers a spa and fitness centre for your convenience, which has lifecycles and treadmills. There is a pool, sauna, four Jacuzzis and a steam room that will help keep you fit on your trip.
The dress code on this ship is casual except for the two formal nights on your voyage. This is in addition to the Togas for Toga Night that is given out by the cruise line. There are suggested gratuities, which are for a waiter $2.50 a day per person, a $1.50 a day for a Stewart and $1.00 a day for the headwaiter.
