Costa Classica Description

Costa Classica

When you board the Costa Classica, you will be taking the trip of your dreams into another world of elegance and romance. This fantastic ship is docked and waiting for your arrival. Classica has 9 passenger decks for you to explore and a crew of 650 very friendly staff to make all your wishes come true. This ship was built with a step up in luxury in mind and it is not hard to notice once you board. The lavish display of art will overwhelm your senses with sculptures, original paintings, hangings, murals and crafts. This has become a very popular ship and once you see it you will understand why.

Accommodations

Classica boasts 654 suites 10 suites of which have balconies, 428 have an ocean view with no balconies and there are 216 inside suites. Even the lowest category staterooms are unusually large. Suites with verandas are over 580 square feet, ocean view staterooms are 200 square feet, while cabins are 175 square feet, which makes for a very comfortable cruise no matter which one you choose.

You can relax in the cream walls and rich wood that are found in the staterooms. The fabric used in these rooms are muted plaids and soft hues. There are 10 staterooms that will get you the VIP treatment, where you will experience check-in help, fresh flowers, fresh fruit daily, the option of dining room meals served in your stateroom, butler service, whirlpool tubs and preferred seating in the main dining rooms. All cabins can enjoy safes, hair dryers and TV.

Dining

You will be delighted with the different foods that are served in The ll Dolce Amore Patisserie, where after your main course you are served with delightful pastries and after dinner drinks. Then there is the La Taverna Pizza, which is a bar that offers freshly made pizza or the breakfast and buffet lunch is served at the La Trattoria. Sit for a coffee at the Al Fresco Café ,where the art work will astound your senses.

The main dining on this ship is found at the Tivoli Restaurant. There is an early and a late dining call and the seating ranges from two up to 10, but there are more smaller tables than larger ones. The food is international, but boasts Italian specialties every day where you can get from pasta to veal and even a menu for those who are vegetarian. You Can’t miss out on the desserts because they are be exceptional.

Entertainment

If you want a place to go in the evening, then the two level Colosseo Showroom is the place to be. You will find this very Roman and very impressive. Here you can experience production shows, dancing, travel lectures, and movies. In the main lounge, called the Piazza Navona Grand Bar, you can find people at all hours and this is where the captain’s cocktail party is held with games and dancing. For the most spectacular sights to be seen from the ship, visit the Galileo Disco and Observatory at the top of the ship. This is a Mecca for late night dancing under a blanket of stars. If you have the children with you and need a night out or need them to be entertained during the day, there is excellent babysitting onboard as well as a youth centre that is very attractive.

For those of you that like shopping, then you won’t be disappointed with the Classica. You can find sundries and Italian designer goods in the duty free shop called Ponte Vecchio. You will also find a library that is well stocked if you that love to read and it also houses six stations of internet. The Sanremo Casino is waiting to give you a chance to try the tables and slot machines or drop into the Puccini Ballroom, the piano bar, which holds private parties for those that wish to book it.

To pass your days in style visit the pool on deck 11 or try one of the two Jacuzzis by the aft pool. There are also two Jacuzzis at the Caracalla Spa and Fitness Centre. There is an authentic Roman bath here plus a steam room, sauna and a beauty salon. On this ship the dress is casual except for the two Toga nights and if you’re wondering about gratuities, then it is acceptable to give $2.50 per person a day for the waiter, $1.00 for the headwaiter and a $1.50 a day per person for the cabin steward.
