Costa Concordia Description

Costa Concordia

Welcome to the Concordia! Welcome to a floating city! This ship will astound your senses as soon as you board this luxury liner. This is certainly the right ship for the cruise of a lifetime and then some. You will be awe struck with its 9 deck atrium flanked by glass back elevators. You can be assured that all accommodations are above average in square footage. It holds the largest spa and fitness centre on any ship over 20,000 square feet. Another first for cruise ships on the Concordia is the Grand Prix Simulator. This ship is glitz and glamour make no mistake about it and it’s all there at the dock waiting for you to arrive.

Accommodations

This beautiful ship holds 1500 suites which include 70 suites with balconies, 501 ocean view with balconies and 343 ocean view with no balconies. On the Samara Staterooms you will get the full spa experience with direct access from your room if you book your suite on deck 10. When you book a spa-exclusive cabin, there are many perks that go with it.

Your pick of veranda cabins is almost endless and the sizes are excellent with cabins measuring at 150 square feet and the ocean view verandas at 220 square feet. If you want more you can book into the mini suite at 279 or 337 square feet or one of the 10 Grand Suites that measure 456 square feet. You will also find 29 cabins that are handicapped accessible.

Dining

When it comes to dining you haven’t experienced anything like the Concordia. The specialty restaurant to look for on this ship is the Club Concordia and even though it is located in the same place on the ship as the rest of the restaurants in the fleet there is one major difference and that is the food that is served. Here you will find food cooked with liquid nitrogen and fish that is cooked in sugar rather than oil. The cover charge for this experience is $25.00.

Then there is the Samsara Restaurant, which is reserved for guests in the Samsara Spa cabins. Any cooking done here is done with fitness in mind even though it doesn’t seem like it when they bring you pasta or sliced duck, which is all served in smaller portions and cooked much lighter than regular food.

The Milano Restaurant serves 775, while the Roma restaurant seats 751. Here you will find pasta, seafood and veal and a children’s menu as well as a vegetarian menu. You can start your day with breakfast in both of these places and follow through with lunch and then dinner.

Entertainment

Costa’s two level disco can be see here on the Concordia and it is generally packed with people. There is lots of seating surrounding this and the Gran Bar Berlino that has the largest dance floor afloat. This ship also has a casino that you would really enjoy.

There is still something new on the Concordia and that is the jumbo screen used at pool side so films and programs are available day or night. The pools themselves have enclosing domes when its necessary to close it over the pool to protect it from inclement weather. If you have a lap top you can leave it at home as the Café has 12 stations so you can check your emails with ease.

If you bring along the kids, then don’t worry. There are babysitting services right onboard. The Club Squok program is stocked with new books, games and several computers. You will also be happy to find out there is a kids pool in addition to the larger pools. There is one big group for all ages, but the room is divided so that the age groups are separated.
