When you come aboard this ship you immediately get the feeling that you are among family with the 635 crew member that are there ready and willing to spoil you very badly on this cruise of a life time. You can explore the 9 passenger decks of the Serenity with each one unveiling it’s own secrets and delights. The high level of service you will receive will make this trip an unforgettable one. There is no limit to the kindness.
Accommodations
Symphony holds a total of 548 accommodations, of which there are a 100 suites with balconies,368 suites with ocean views and balconies and 80 with ocean view, but no balconies. These give passengers a good variety in size and in budget. It has no inside cabins. The standard outside cabins measure 202 square feet and are decorated the same as the balcony cabins except they measure 246 square feet counting the balcony. They all feature a queen bed that can convert into two twin beds when necessary. They also have TV and DVD player, a seating area and a fridge. You will find that the storage space is quite generous. All bathrooms have full tub and showers.
You will love Penthouse level. All have verandas. Your options for size is 367, 421 and 982 square feet. All have butlers that make those reservations you don’t want to be bothered with, replace refreshments and bring your meals to your room which you can order at any time during meal hours. You also get a complimentary bottles of wine plus a choice of liquor. The bathrooms here are huge with whirlpool tubs, separate showers and dual sinks.
Dining
The Symphony is only liner that has assigned dining times and dinner mates but this is at dinner only. This also gives you the opportunity to form lasting friendships and get to know your waiter very well. With breakfast and lunch, it is open seating which can prove to be a little inconsistent.
There are two alternative restaurants. The Jade Gardens specializes in Asian food, while the Prego specializes in Italian, which offers an outstanding experience. The menus stay the same during the cruise, but you won’t get bored with the selection of food offered. There is a $6.00 cover charge, but it is wise to tip a bit extra as you will find it will be well rewarded. You will find that the poolside buffet is well worth the effort to try as they are differently themed throughout the voyage.
In the morning you can try a bagel at the Bistro or the Trident Grill, where you can also get burgers and fries, hot dogs and foods in that line. The Lido Café is the ship’s standard buffet alternative where you can get varied breakfast and lunch.
Entertainment
The focal feature and one that you may enjoy seeing is the Symphony’s two story atrium. A waterfall that is the art of the atrium is Crystal Cove Lounge, which is a fabulous spot for pre dinner drinks. The Palm Court makes a wonderful observation point and is the place to be as the ship leaves or enters a port.
You can partake in instructions on such things as arts, wellness, wine and food and many other interesting subjects. There is also team Trivia, Scrabble, Mah-jong, movies in the cinema, bingo, dance classes and much more. The Galaxy Lounge offers nightly shows, which are production shows or comic shows. Drop by the Starlite Lounge for a night of dancing to soft romantic music played by a band or try your luck at the Crystal Casino for a night of fun and games.
Jog around the Promenade Deck or take a swim in the swimming pools. Whirlpools are provided for any one that cares to relax in them. You can indulge yourself in the spa, steam room, Jacuzzi, beauty salon and the fitness room has all new equipment to help you stay fit during your voyage. Children are welcome on this ship, but the facilities for them are very limited.
The dress code is country club casual but there are some formal nights where gowns and tuxedos are worn by guest. It is expected to tip waiters and stewardess $4.00, $ 2.50 for the assistant waiter and $ 4.00 for the butler, this is based on a per day per person.
