Disney Wonder Description

Disney Wonder

When Disney went looking for a new liner to join the fleet, they didn’t want any run of the mill ship. The company wanted a luxurious liner and that is just what they got in the Wonder. The ship resembles the cruise ships of the 20’s, but with all the modern convenes and amenities of today’s first class luxury liners. The inside shows the elegance of Art Nouveau décor with plenty of nods to the mouse that started it all.

This ship proves that elegance and family orientated can go hand in hand. You’ll be surprisingly amazed at what each deck of the 11 passengers decks has to offer. And with a crew of 950 to serve your beck and call, it will make for an unforgettable journey for all the family. For those of you that travel without the kids Wonder has special places for you too, so that you can ensure you enjoy your voyage as much as the kids do.

Accommodations

Wonder has 877 accommodations in total. 22 of these are suites with balconies, 362 with balconies and an ocean view, 237 with no balconies, but an ocean view and 256 inside cabins. The standard inside cabins measure 184 square feet with the smallest balcony cabin measuring 226 square feet. Most of them offer a very comfortable living space with bedroom and living room and a curtain for those that want to retire early. Families of five can get a larger stateroom where they have a sofa as well as a mounted wall bed.

There is no shortage of storage space in these cabins with a six drawer dresser, several drawers and high shelves in the desk, plus an upright steamer trunk. There are TV’s in the rooms with several different channels including the Disney channel, of course.

You will find that the handicapped accessible rooms are huge with plenty of floor space, a walk in closet, a couch and a pull down bed and the bathroom is larger than in some suites. The only difference between categories 5 and 6 is that they are on a different deck. Category 7 has obstructed views from the balconies, but they do look extremely attractive.

There are three types of suites that range from one to two bedrooms and can accommodate five to eight people. These include dining tables, numerous storage areas and TVs, whirlpool tubs, expansive balconies and a cabinet that is well stocked with all kinds of games.

The Walt Disney Suite is the grandest and filled with pictures of the grand master , but you will also find a baby grand piano, bath amenities such as mouthwash, toothpaste, cotton balls and lovely robes and slippers to make you comfy.

Dining

The rotational dining that Wonder offers is exceptional. There are three main restaurants on Wonder and during your voyage you will dine in each of them sometimes twice depending on the length of your trip. You will find there are additional dining perks such as free soda during your evening meal also a different children’s menu with a different activity sheet each night.

Triton’s is the most formal of the three restaurants. This is a dining room with stained glass walls and a massive tiled wall that depicts a scene from the Little Mermaid. Here you can enjoy a continental cruise served with a French flair.

Animator’s Palette is a combination of restaurant and animation show. During dinner everything changes except the colour of the carpet. This will prove to be a very entertaining and unique experience in dining. Parrot Cay is the third dining room and is a Caribbean Themed multi-sensory experience. Here you will hear music in the background and see vibrant colours throughout the room as you dine.

Palo is the only adult dining room on this ship. It is an elegant opened room kitchen with an espresso bar, wine cellar and fantastic views. This restaurant is open nightly for dinner and for Champagne brunches on the days your at sea. Both take reservations, which should be made as soon as you board. Although there is a $10.00 fee per person to eat there, you will find it is well worth it.

The Beach Blanket Buffet on deck 9 will certainly take care of breakfast and lunch, while casual outdoor eateries include such places as Pinocchio’s Pizzeria , Pluto’s Hot Dog House, Scoops and Cookie Time which should take care of any cravings you may have.

Entertainment

The premier of Wonder’s entertainment facility is in the Walt Disney Theatre. Here you will see the best of the best production shows that any ship carries. Some of the productions include Hercules-the musical, Disney Dreams and The Golden Mickey’s.

A visit to Studio Sea is a must. Here you can partake in treasure hunts, family karaoke, and game shows such as “Walk the Plank”. at the Buena Vista. You can see recent Disney features that show throughout the day. Along Route 66, you will find games and contests throughout the day. In the Cadillac Lounge, there is a pianist for the adult passengers, while the Wave Bands is home for dances from the 70’s and 80’s.

There are three age pools and a Mickey Mouse water themed slide, which is in the Mickey Pool where the toddlers can go. Then there is the Goofy Pool, where all the family can swim, while at the Cave Cove only adults can swim there.

The Vista Spa and Salon offers massages, facials and improvement treatments and for $15.00 you can buy a pass to the tropical Tuscan themed aromatherapy rain forest. Here you can enjoy steam baths, saunas and showers that spray like a rain forest. You can also visit the fitness room, where you will find an ample supple of fitness machines to help you keep in shape during your voyage.

You have to visit Castaway Cay which is Disney’s Island, but is really a land based extension of the ship. It has crystal clear waters and banana coloured umbrellas, but it is a family beach. Trams will take you around the island throughout the day. As with , things family comes first and you can see this in everything this liner has to offer anyone that steps aboard.
