Enchantment of the Seas, launched in 1997, has recently been given a complete makeover. It is now bigger and better than ever before. The total revamping of the ship is the first of its kind where the ship was actually sliced down the middle and a new 73-foot midsection was added. This stretching made room for some fabulous new facilities such as a new pool, restaurant and nightclub.
Enchantment of the Seas has been reborn and now boasts several fabulous features that would entice old cruisers to travel aboard this ship again just to see the changes. The ship has been changed so that it is now more handicapped friendly with improved ramps and thresholds throughout the ship. Lifts and ramps have been added to the whirlpool and are standard in the new pool area that was just added.
Accommodations
While the ship has been revamped, the cabins however, have been changed very little. Several of the rooms were given a makeover, balconies were added and rooms were enlarged. However, if you wish to have these luxuries you will have to pay for them as they are not standard in each room. The new balcony rooms come equipped with a sofa, balcony furniture and the standard amenities such as televisions, telephones and hairdryers.
There are newly created family cabins that offer more room for those passengers traveling with children. These rooms range from inside to ocean view rooms. If you are willing to pay the price you can stay in the luxury suites. Then you can expect to find a Jacuzzi tub, balconies and other high-tech amenities in each suite. A family size luxury suite has been added and is able to sleep eight people comfortably.
Dining
While there are many added features aboard this ship, there are several restrictions when it comes to dining aboard Enchantment of the Seas. While relaxing by the pool, you can take advantage of the many food stations that have been added. This buffet style eatery is one of the main attractions on the ship. However, in order to make this option open to passengers, the designers have had to eliminate some the original seating areas. Therefore seating has become a problem in some of the dining areas.
When dining on this ship passengers may feel restricted, as there are set dining times that all passengers must adhere to. In compensate for this, the fleet has added a new dining area, Chop’s Grille, which specializes in steaks and pork chops. There is a fee that must be paid upon entering the dining room. Each passenger must pay a service charge of twenty dollars. Reservations are a must, as seating is limited. For those passengers wishing to stay in their cabins there is a twenty-four hour room service that offers mostly cold foods.
Entertainment
Enchantment of the Seas offers a great variety of entertainment options both day and night. During the day passengers can choose to relax by the pool or to workout in one of the many fitness centers that have been put on board the ship. With two pools and whirlpools, there are endless things for children and adults to do throughout the day.
For those passengers looking for nightly entertainment, Enchantment of the Seas has an ample selection of bars and theatrical venues. There is a casino on board for those passengers wishing to try their luck. However, this is one entertainment venue that did not get a makeover and space is tight – it is usually crowded during the night. There are several bars located throughout the ship that offer many different entertainment options. There are those bars that offer great dancing, and singing. There is something for everyone on this ship.
