If you want to sail through icy waters, then the Explorer 11 is the ship you need. This ship of the Regent Seven Seas Cruises is specifically designed for sailing to Antartica. It is a smaller cruise ship, capable of carrying only 300 guests, but it is not lacking in amenities or facilities to give you the cruise of a lifetime. Looking something like a country hotel, you won’t have any complaints with the service you receive.
Accommodations
Choose from a wide range of accommodations when you book the Explorer 11 for your cruise. The most expensive is the Owner’s Suite, but here you will really feel as if you are in the lap of luxury. With a private balcony, separate sitting room and an extra large double wardrobe, you will feel as if you are still at home. Then there are suites to choose from as well as deluxe, superior and standard inside and outside cabins. The standard staterooms have two single beds and plenty of closet space. You certainly won’t feel cramped. If you choose an outside cabin, you will have a window through which you have an exceptional ocean view.
Dining
There is no assigned seating in either the main dining room or the Veranda. The dress code is country casual and there are only two nights of the cruise designated as “informal”. Imaginative menus in the main dining room allow you to select from a variety of dishes, which include vegetarian and diet dishes. Dine in a casual environment with the buffet style breakfast and lunch.
Entertainment
You won’t spend time on deck suntanning on this cruise. Rather your time outside will be taken up with watching whales and icebergs. However, inside, you can relax in the spa, have a massage, take in a movie or have drinks in the bar. Take in the pre-onshore briefings where you will get information about the places you will be visiting. The library on this ship is the largest at sea, so you won’t have any difficulty choosing a good book to curl up with.
Chat with your friends in the Lounge or socialize in the two open bars – the Shackleton and the South Cape. The drinks are all complimentary on this ship and there is a wonderful selection of wines, alcohol, beer and liqueurs.
The Bridge is the fitness room and is open 24 hours a day. There is a pool and a small sundeck as well as a card room and gift shop. Smoking is only permitted in a room on the Bridge Deck.
