Cruisers of all ages will love to travel on this “giant of the seas”. The second of a series first came on the market in 1999. This ship has been called a destination of itself as it has an unlimited supply of amenities such as ice-skating rinks, rock-climbing walls, full-court basketball and so much more. For those interested in getting married, this fabulous cruise shop offers a wonderful little wedding chapel right on the ship. You can have your wedding and honeymoon all in one trip.
Accommodations
On Explorer of the Seas there are 939 ocean view cabins with over half boasting fabulous balconies. A great feature on this ship is that there are several rooms that have been made wheelchair accessible. Each cabin is tastefully decorated in earthy tones, which makes all travelers feel comfortable, and at home while at sea.
Each cabin comes equipped with twin size beds that can be converted easily to a queen size bed. In addition to this, each cabin has a phone, television with satellite, mini-bar and individually controlled air conditioning. There is one drawback however; the rooms are small, but functional. The standard size room is approximately 120 square feet. Balcony rooms however are slightly larger. An added feature to each room is that there is a blackout option for the windows. This gives the passenger added privacy as it blacks out the window and decreases the noise that can be heard coming from both inside and outside of the room.
Dining
Explorer of the Seas has several dining areas. This ship has a three level formal dining room with each floor linked by a grand staircase. Each level of the dining room is themed to a legendary explorer. The walls are decorated with mosaics that outline and celebrate their fantastic journeys. For those people looking to stay healthy while staying on board, Explorer of the Seas offers a great selection of vegetarian and low fat meals in their dining room.
In addition to the formal dining room, Explorer of the Seas has several small eateries where passengers can eat. If you are interested in eating at one of these eateries you can expect to pay a cover fee of $3.95 per person for both dining in and take out meals.
There are two smaller, buffet style, dining areas that offer passengers a more casual dining experience. The Windjammer Café has an open seating plan and there is no cover charge. For those wishing to eat in their cabins, Explorer of the Seas offers twenty-four hour room service to all passengers. However the menu selection is slightly less than that found in the main dining room.
