Welcome on board the Galaxy for the trip of a lifetime that will go down in the history of your mind and be talked about long after you cruise is over or until you return for more. The Galaxy was built in 1996 when she joined Celebrity fleet. This ship gives you the amenities of luxury liners without taking the element of fun out of your cruise. Food and drink that is associated with pricier liners are found on the Galaxy and the service is impeccable. This ship boasts 10 passenger decks and a crew of 909 that is waiting to make this the most special cruise you’ll ever take. You will find a pool, an atrium with a 40 foot video panel, a retractable glass dome that covers the aft swimming pool. For those of you that live with fitness in mind, you can enjoy the giant Thalassotherapy pool which is a kind of a saltwater Jacuzzi. Then there are treadmills, Stairmasters and exercise machines in abundance.
Accommodations
There are 639 outside cabins and 296 inside cabins. All of them are pleasantly spacious and airy with loads of amenities to make your trip a trip of comfort. The inside cabins measure a comfortable 172 square feet, but the suites measure from 313 to 1290 square feet. Whether you are inside or out you will find the cabins very pleasant and airy and even the smallest cabin have large amount of storage space. Your view will always be pleasant, as there are no suites with obstructed views. However, you may find that there are not enough electrical outlets to suit your needs. Suites have 2 outlets, while the cabins have only one. Room service is available anytime you need it and you can order from the dinner menu during dinner hours. All accommodations have a supply of toiletries, a hair dryer, an interactive TV system, telephone and a mini bar service.
Dining
You will find the Galaxy to be a diners’ delight. When seafood is caught and prepared you can’t get any fresher than that. Here classical foods are alos prepared and served and for the person that has health in mind you will find a great array of salads and seafood prepared to your taste. You will find whatever your taste desires at the Oasis or the Grill, which caters to the pool side people, but in the evening you will also find elegant dining and a mixture of Mexican and Caribbean food and music to keep you up to the wee hours if you so desire. There is also a limited menu for those that wish to stay in their cabins and dine there in the evening. Don’t miss the Orion Restaurant, which serves as a good meeting place prior to your meal. With its sweeping staircase and piano music, it can set the mood for a most enjoyable evening.
Entertainment
Galaxy has two-level main show lounges and it’s one of the best designs you will ever see. You’ll find no obstructed views in this lounge as every seat is in the perfect position to enjoy your evening show, while you feel like your sitting in an opera house. It offers lounge acts such as comedians, pianists and singers with the presence of a string quartet. If you’re not in the mood for the lounge, then stroll into the Fortune Casino and try your luck at one of the tables or slot machines that you’ll find there. You can also gamble in-cabin through an interactive machine that will keep you entertained while you rest in your own room. You will find lots of things to entertain you on this magic trip. If you’re an avid golfer, then you can still keep your golf in shape by playing the golf simulator. Then there are the usual board games and play areas that you can enjoy. Movies are shown daily, so enjoy the latest release if you feel like a movie. Whatever you deicide to do one thing is for sure - you will enjoy every minute you spend on the Galaxy and will leave with the anticipation of returning as soon as possible.
