With a crew of 1200 to see to your every need, you will want for nothing on this trip. Explore the 14 decks that this ship offers and discover surprises at every turn. This ship helped launch the era of the mega ships and is awaiting your arrival to show you all that it has to offer.
Accommodations
There is a total of 1301 accommodations on the Golden Princess, of which there are 205 with balconies, 502 with balconies and an ocean view, 228 with an ocean view but no balconies and 366 inside cabins. There are a total of 744 outside cabins with balconies. These balconies are large and some of them are not very private, so you have to be careful how you choose. 1096 are standard inside or outside cabins and this includes the 711 with balconies. There are also 22 Suites and 180 mini suites, one Grand Suite and two family suites. Cabins measure 165 to 255 square feet while the Suites measure 325 to 800 square feet.
Standard cabins come with television, in room safes, mini refrigerators, hair dryers, a desk, and bathrooms with shower. Mini suites give you a sitting area and a pull out sofa. If this is your choice, you will also receive bathrobes without requesting them. Dry cleaning is available for a fee, but there are also Laundromat services.
Dining
When you dine on the Golden Princess you are in store for a food experience like no other. You will find Personal Choice Dining in both the Bernini dining room or the Donatello. Both of these have a range of tables for seating two people up to tables for eight or ten. Depending on the time you want to dine, there may be a wait of 15 minutes for a table for two, but you can make same day reservations if you wish. If you are a traditionalist, then the Canaletto is the place for you.
Start your day with breakfast at the Horizon, where you’ll find an ample display of buffet that would make any breakfast eater happy. You will also find that food is always available here. There is also room service, but it is limited in selections offering soup, sandwiches and burgers.
Golden Princess offers two specialty restaurants and one of these is Sabatini’s, which carries a $20.00 surcharge, but it is well worth the extra fee. You can chose from 11 types of antipasto and go from there to delight your taste buds in ways that they have not been delighted before. You can continue on with Italian delights as one plate after another is served to you. The other place is Sterling Steakhouse, where the steaks are totally delicious and the fish entrée is just as good. For a three course dinner there is a $15.00 surcharge. If you want the ultimate in intimate dining try a dinner served on your balcony with your private butler service. It will be an unforgettable experience.
Entertainment
You will find that you have plenty of choices when it comes to entertainment on this ship. You will be able to enjoy at least two big shows from Broadway musicals along with a production with singers and dancers. At the Vista lounge you can listen to music of “Shake Rattle and Roll” or Country Roads, which is a collection of country songs. On a different night enjoy the acts of comedians, jugglers and pianist. The Princess Theatre offers the most recent movies in the afternoon. You can attend lectures on art, diamonds or digital editing.
The Golden Princess carries three pools onboard. You will find most of the kids at the Calypso Reef Pool, while the glass roofed Neptune Reef attracts adults. Then there is a pool at the Spa, but here too it seems the kids gather making it impossible to swim most days.
The Lotus Spa is a source of renewal for your body and for your mind. You have to book early to get in here as it is a very popular place. If you want to take advantage of the fitness centre you will find that the equipment they have there will do the job and the view of the sea from here makes it all worth while.
This ship is very family orientated and there are many children’s programs that they can enjoy. They can go to the Fun Zone that will keep them entertained for hours or take in some of the sports and dances that are put on just for them.
On a ten day cruise you can expect two formal nights and eight smart casual nights. Shorts and T-shirts are not acceptable during the evening. Tipping is usually $10.00 per person per day unless you instruct them not to include it. This is for your cabin steward as well as your servers, but if you want to tip in cash you are welcome to do so.
