Grandeur of the Seas Description

Grandeur of the Seas

You won’t feel overcrowded in spite of the large number of passengers on the Grandeur of the Seas. This ship of the Royal Caribbean International caters to singles, but for the most part the passengers are couples and families. The children really enjoy the programs the staff has for them and there are many different types of daily activities for adult entertainment. With exceptional cabin and dining service, you will really have to look hard to find something to complain about. With dramatic staircases and expanses of glass, you can enjoy panoramic views each and every day.

Accommodations

The staterooms on the Grandeur of the Seas are substantially larger than on other ships in this line, while the standard cabins are a bit smaller than you might expect. With more than have of them being outside cabins, either with or without a balcony, you can have a sweeping view as you sail along. For families, there are four suites that provide ample space for a crowd and 212 cabins have their own private verandahs.

All of the cabins have twin beds that convert to one queen bed, a private bathroom that is quite roomy, television, telephone, safe, radio and air conditioning that you can control in your room. If you book a suite, you have added amenities such as a refrigerator and a VCR. For the handicapped passengers, 14 rooms are specially fitted with wheelchair accessible doorways and other essentials to make the cruise very comfortable.

Dining

Dine in style at the Great Gatsby Dining Room with its sweeping walls of glass affording wonderful views as you have your meal. There is assigned seating in tables ranging from two to ten. Although the service is wonderful, there have been a lot of complaints about the food not tasting as good as it should. If you are not sure about what to order from the menu, the waiters can give you excellent advice each night.

Entertainment

With many bars and lounges on this ship it is not hard to find a place to have a drink or a conversation. Enjoy dancing to the sounds of disco at the Venetian Lounge if you like staying up late or a show earlier in the evening. The Casino is quite large, but it tends to be crowded and smoky as this is the smoking area of the ship. If you are afraid of heights it may take some courage to cross the glass floor at the entrance to the casino, underneath which is a sunken treasure – possibly drawing you to the possibility of winning a treasure of your own.

With ample deck chairs around the pool, you can get the tan of your dreams as you sit in the sun. In addition there are whirlpools and a wading pool for the children. At the spa you can enjoy the view through the floor to ceiling windows as you enjoy a relaxing massage or one of several other treatments. There are also hydrotherapy tubs in some of the private treatment areas. Tone up on some of the latest fitness equipment on the market in the gym or take in some tennis or shuffleboard.

Children and teens will be fully occupied with such programs as the ball pit, pipe sliding and other activities. There are children’s menus to choose from in the dining room and a soda card will provide an unlimited supply of drinks for the young ones.

There are two formal nights on a typical cruise where men usually wear dark suits and the women wear dresses. Gratuities are in the range of $3.50 per person for the waiter, the cabin steward and the assistant waiter. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to the bar bill.
