Island Escape Description

Island Escape

Enjoy cruising to the Mediterranean on a budget that you can afford with Island Cruises. The Island Escape is one of two ships in this cruise line and is the former Viking Serenade of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Seven-night cruises cost just over $1000(US) and for children the fare is greatly reduced at $350 (US).Most of the passengers are new to cruising because they want something that won’t empty their wallets yet give them the vacation of a lifetime. Take in the deck party, a standard with each cruise, where you can see the Captain dancing for the passengers.

Accommodations

Cruise in style with the luxury suits on the Island Escape or choose something more economical such as cabins with four bunk beds. There are choices in between these as well, such as staterooms with an extra sofa bed and chairs. You can choose an inside or outside room depending on whether or not you like to look out over the ocean as you sail along. Even though the rooms are small and old-fashioned, they do have quite a bit of closet and storage space. Although the décor is a bit drab, the low price will certainly please you. Who wants to spend a cruise in one’s cabin anyway?

Dining

Relax at the Beachcomber where there is a causal indoor and outdoor buffet. This restaurant is open 24 hours a day, so there is no need to spend a hungry hour whether it is day or night. Enjoy a hearty British breakfast until noon each day. The Dining Room on the Diamond Deck can set up to 530 guests and it also offers buffet style dining. There are plenty of tables for two if you want to have an intimate meal, but you can also join tables together to accommodate a larger group. The stations are manned by the staff and all the food is prepared fresh every day.

For elegant dining, the Oasis is open for dinner only. If this is your choice, you will have to pay extra for house specialties, such as grilled lobster. You can buy bottles of wine, specialty cakes and coffees. The café has a small library if you want to read and there is a good selection of games.

Entertainment

Dance on the floor of the Lookut Bar or take in the sights during the day. The Sailaway Bar is filled to capacity when the Island Escape is leaving or entering port. The Bounty Lounge is also another dancing venue or you can enjoy the drinks at the Mirage Bar, which overlooks the pool. Have before and after dinner drinks at the Sundowner Bar as you listen to the strains of the piano.

There are a few shops where you can purchase things you may have forgotten to pack and there is an Internet café, where you can keep in touch with home. Evening shows take place in the Ocean Theatre and are often a tribute to the Second World War, allowing passengers to sing along to their favorite oldies. During the day there are many games, contests and quizzes, line dancing lessons and a weekly talent show. You can keep in shape on the cruise by utilizing the substantial gym on board. Withy a wide variety of fitness equipment, male and female saunas and classes in Yoga and Pilates, you can return from the cruise felling trim and slim.

The free to use age related programs make it possible for families to have an enjoyable cruise on this ship. This venue is open until 9:30 at night and offers many different activities to keep the children occupied. There are also babysitting services available for parents to have a night to themselves and there are shore excursions planned just for the kids.
