Island Princess Description

Island Princess

Even with 1970 passengers The Island Princess still don’t feel crowded. You will have no trouble finding a place to catch a few rays in some sunny nook or a quiet place to read a book or just sip on a cocktail. This is literarily the dream boat of today and it’s waiting to sail you into a cruise that you will talk about long after you have arrived back home. As soon as you go aboard you can start exploring the 11 passenger decks and around every turn you will see something different and new. The crew of 900 awaits your arrival so they can start spoiling you rotten.

Accommodations

The Island Princess carries a total of 987 accommodations for its passengers. 200 of these are Suites with balconies. There are 8 suites with no balconies, 527 with an ocean view and a balcony, 144 with no balcony but an ocean view and 108 are inside cabins. This means you should not have a problem finding one to suit your taste and your pocket book.

The inside cabins measure 156 to 166 square feet. The 16 largest Suites on this ship measure 470 square feet and this includes the balconies. With these suites there are some extra goodies such as robes and slippers, a bar set up, a fruit bowl, flowers and night canapés. The mini suites get waffle weaved robes. All of the top suites have a sitting area, two TV’s, fridge, walk in closet, and a shower and tub combination in the bathrooms.

Dining

On this ship you can enjoy Personal Choice Dining, which means you get to sit wherever you want and dine with whomever you want, which is a big plus on any ship these days rather than the traditional seating that is usually offered. There are two main dining rooms on the Island Princess and while the Provence offers traditional seating, the Bordeaux offers you the freedom to pick and choose.

There is alternative dining on this ship, such as at Sabitini’s Trattoria where Italian is the specialty and the $15.00 surcharge is well worth it. The second alternative is the N’Awlins style- Bayou Café, which comes with live music and a menu that will leave you with a smile on your face. There is a $10.00 surcharge at this restaurant but the experience is well worth the money.

Entertainment

From professional cooking demos to making of ceramic mugs and vases, this ship offers it all to you. At night visit the Universal Lounge, which turns into a high tech stage that will give you an unforgettable evening in the shows that you see there. You will also find lounges that have their own kind of entertainment which is enjoyed by all.

The Lotus Spa is a must experience place where you can get a massage, enjoy the steam baths or the sauna and so much more. The gym offers everything you need to keep you fit during your voyage.

There are two swimming pools on the Island Princess. One is an open air pool and the other is located by the spa where the pool and three whirlpools are set under a retractable roof. On the top deck, there is a splash pool along with basket and volleyball, shuffleboard, ping pong and other games. Don’t forget to check out the golf simulator that you’ll find here.

This ship welcomes families and it shows in the programs that are available here. There is also a Fun Zone that the kids can enjoy that will keep them busy. There is something on this ship for everyone regardless of what age they are.

There are only two dress codes on this ship - smart casual which means slacks, sweaters, blouse and skirt and formal is a suit with a tie. The tipping is covered by $10.00 per day, which takes care of everyone except the bar bills to which 15% is added.
