Marco Polo Description

Marco Polo

If you’re seeking an adventurous vacation and a cruise that will give you unforgettable memories then Marco Polo is the ship for you. This ship can take you on cruises that range from11 to 25 days. The crew of 350 will make you feel right at home and pamper you all through your voyage. When you board explore the 8 decks that this ship has to offer and discover just what a wonderful cruise ship this is. This ship will take you to exciting destinations and do it in style and comfort.

Accommodations

Marco polo has 423 accommodations in all categories. Of these, there are 6 suites with no balconies, 286 with an ocean view but no balconies and 131 inside cabins. The outside cabins range from 130 to 150 square feet. This also includes 365 which are doubles, 48 triples,12 quads, and two inside staterooms, which are handicapped accessible.

All the cabins have two lower beds, a mirrored dressing table, a phone and satellite TV. The bathroom has a shower and there is an abundance of closet and drawer space. You will find three large closets as well as two dressers with four drawers each.

The deluxe suites come with a marble tub and shower a refrigerator, a walk in closet and a sitting area and a VCR. When you book a category C cabin, you will have bathrobes and also preferred sitting at the dinner table.

Dining

If you’re looking for open seating breakfast and lunch, you will find it at the Seven Seas Restaurant, but for dinner there is assigned seating. If you want a table for two throughout your voyage, then you should request it prior to sailing. You can enjoy some of the usual foods as well as some of the unusual and all of the food is a delight. There are also vegetarian menus.

For alternative dinning, you can enjoy the informal atmosphere at Raffles. Here you have a choice of eating indoors or by the pool side. Breakfast and lunch buffets are served and this is the place to get hot dogs, hamburgers and fries or pizza along with other delicious foods.

For afternoon tea, Raffles and the Palm Court are the places to be every day from 4 to 5 pm. However, if you’re planning on dining at Raffles in the evening, you must have reservations and there is a $15.00 surcharge.

Entertainment

Your place for an evening of entertainment is the Ambassador Lounge which features the Marco Polo Singers and Dancers. There is also a comedy show as well as banjo playing and a duo of champion dancers. The Captain’s welcome and farewell party takes place here also.

Another alternative for an evening of fun can be found at the casino, where you’ll find tables and slot machines that you can try your luck on. However, on this ship there is no way you can leave a loser with the fun you will have on this cruise. Try the Polo Lounge for some easy listening of piano playing or the Charleston Club, which has a small bandstand.

The Health Club offers several different aerobic machines to keep you fit while you sail and you can enjoy the panoramic view from this vantage point. There is also a beauty salon, steam baths, saunas, and whirlpools. Visit the swimming pool or jog around the track that’s provided. You will also find the usual games that you come to expect on a cruise ship such as bingo, shuffleboard, ping pong and more.

On formal evenings the men are expected to wear a tux and the women are expected to wear a dress. After six on other nights men are to wear suits and women dress other than these times sportswear is appropriate. Tipping is $9.00 per person per day, bar bills are 15 percent tipping and any other is at your own discretion.
