Even disembarking is a pleasure because unless you have early travel arrangements you can certainly take your time.
This is a gorgeous ship although it is mixed with a bit of whimsical expressions here and there in its bright primary colours. You will soon realize that this ship is dedicated to fun, easy going and relaxed atmosphere for the comfort of its guests. You’ll have fun exploring the 11 passenger decks that this ship offers and with a crew of 1200, it is not likely you will have to wait for anything your heart desires.
Accommodations
Staterooms are the usual sizes and categories and are decorated in whimsical primary colours. Dawn carries a total of 1112 accommodations of which there are 145 suites with balconies, 364 with balconies and an ocean view, 250 with an ocean view and no balconies and 353 inside cabins. Standard inside and outside staterooms have twin beds that can turn into one queen if necessary, but it would be worth the price to upgrade from an inside to an outside due to the bathrooms. In the outsides, the bathroom is very spacious and the shower and the toilet has a sliding glass door. This is the same as you will find in the Staterooms.
Balcony cabins come with a small seating area with small chairs and a table. There is a couch there that can open up into another bed when you need it. These are larger than the mini suites. The storage space on this ship adequate but not overwhelming. A coffee maker is provided in your cabins as well as a TV with lots of channels.
The Garden Villas are the top of the line accommodations for this ship and although you can expect to pay $26,000 villa charge, if you split this with some friends it may just work for you. They are absolutely beautiful with each of them having a private outdoor garden, a sun bathing deck, a steam room and a whirlpool. What more could you want from a cruise?
Dining
You are in for a treat when you board the Norwegian Dawn. There are ten restaurants and a few casual options which means the passengers can dine in a different restaurant every night of their cruise. The themes range from Benihana style Teppanyaki to fish and chips. The choice is yours and you can chose anything your heart desires. The three main restaurants differ mostly in atmosphere. You can dine in the Venetian, where there are 472 seats available. This is the one that is mostly used for breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere in this restaurant is outstanding as well as the décor. It is decorated with scenes of Venice. The glass windows allow you breathtaking views as you dine and there are plenty of tables for 2. The Aqua Restaurant is more contemporary than the Venetian, although no less pleasing to the eye. You will find lots of coloured glass and murals here. It is a bit more intimate in this restaurant, as there are only 344 seats available. Then there is Impressions, which offers 236 seats and is a little more intimate than all of them. The menus are much the same at all three places.
You want to read the menu carefully as some of the dining has a surcharge such as the Le Bistro. It features a French menu and although it carries a $15.00 charge per person, the food is spectacular. This is one of the ships most booked up restaurants. Cagney’s Steakhouse is another place to dine and here there is also a surcharge of $20.00 per person. You will find such things as Angus beef on the menu along with mashed potatoes. The Bamboo is an elegant dining area, where you can order all kinds of Asian food and there is a surcharge of $12.50 per person.
You can also enjoy the ultra casual dining areas such as the daily cook outs provided at pool side, which is a barbeque of all sorts of yummy food.. The Garden café is a buffet area that offers the usual breakfast of bacon and eggs and other traditional food. The Garden also has a kids’ dining area, which is really cute and convenient. At Bimini Grill you can get hamburgers, fries, hot dogs and all of the old favourites during lunch hour. Don’t forget that there is a 24 hour room service provided.
