For anyone that thought that the refurbishing of the Norwegian Spirit would be too much, they were wrong. The ship certainly did not lose her old charm. The Asian influence in the ship was basically untouched as were many of the Eastern touches. This ship is docked and waiting your arrival to give you an unforgettable experience in cruising.
The upgrade did do something for the ship such as add new restaurants and night clubs and the overlarge casino made smaller. There were facelifts given to the interior, such as in the cabins, but the Asian theme is still strong in the public areas. You will love exploring Spirit’s 10 decks and the crew of 975 is waiting to pamper you like you‘ve never been pampered before.
Accommodations
There are six basic accommodations on the Spirit out of 983 accommodations. These are 18 balcony suites, 217 with an ocean view and no balcony, 374 with balcony and an ocean view and 374 inside cabins. Out of these, there are outside cabins with picture windows. Balcony staterooms have a full wall sliding glass door, and although the balconies are small, they are still comfortable. You will find there is a little shortage of closet space. but you certainly can make do. The staterooms have a TV, ice bucket, glasses and coffee pot. The bathrooms are divided into three sections and have a partially hidden toilet with pocket doors to the shower.
If you’re lucky enough to get one of the 18 suites on this ship, then you are in the lap of luxury. These have large oval whirlpool tubs, elegant bedrooms, fully furnished living rooms, a fridge, a dining room table and a concierge to see to your every need as well as a butler. The bathroom has a whirlpool tub and a floor to ceiling one way window giving you a priceless view.
Dining
The two main restaurants on this ship are the Garden Room and Windows and each has its own features. Windows is the most breathtaking spot on the ship. The sights from this spot will astound you. Both places serve breakfast lunch and dinner. Cagney’s Steakhouse carries a $20.00 surcharge ,as does the Grand Centrum, but both places are worth the extra dollars. Le Bistro serves French cuisine with a $15.00 surcharge. The Chinese Shogun serves Asian food with a surcharge of $12.50. The Lido buffet at Raffles Café is another alternative to the other restaurants. There is a 24 hour room service in addition to all of these.
Entertainment
The Stardust Theatre has excellent seating from which you can watch productions that take place there. Two lounges, Champagne Charlie’s and Galaxy of the Stars,offer live music. You will also enjoy the music found in the Celebrity Disco. Dance the night away at Maharini’s Lounge and Nightclub or one of the other wonderful other places onboard this ship. The Marihuana’s Casino will give you an evening of excitement and pleasure as you try to get on the good side of lady luck. This venue has a great variety of tables and slot machines
There are all sorts of games and contest that take place throughout the ship and there is a admiral program for children that is called the Kid’s Crew Program. As a plus for families, there is baby sitting available for a fee. Also look up Charlie’s Childcare Centre and the Buccaneers Wet and Wild for a time the kids won’t forget. It’s the best since Disney. This boat was built with children and families in mind.
There is one large swimming pool on this ship and that gets good use. This is also surrounded by four large hot tubs. Deck 7 is the perfect place to jog or walk and although the gym is small, it is well equipped. There are steam rooms, saunas, and a spa. Beauty salons and massage spas are some of the other perks of this ship.
The dress code is casual, but there are two formal nights on which you get to really dress up. There is a $10.00 tipping fee per day per person and that takes care of all tipping.
