Oceana Description

Oceana
This is one ship where you will check in and everything will go like clockwork. The Oceana will sail you into one of the most exciting trips youve ever experienced. This ship joined the P&O cruise line in 2003 and has never looked back. It carries a crew of 875 members and they will make sure that your trip is one of the best youve ever experienced. This ship offers 15 decks to explore and around every corner you will find something interesting and new. This ship is not the fanciest or the most innovative ship in the worlds cruise fleet, but it does offer a high quality cruise at very reasonable price.

Accommodations
This ship accommodates 2016 passengers and they do it very well. More than 600 of the 975 cabins have outside views and nearly half have balconies. Though they have seven price grades there is very little difference in size between most of them. However, you will find a major difference between those outside with portholes and picture windows or sliding patio style window doors and balconies.

All the inside and outside cabins provide bathrooms with a shower but no bathtub, twin beds which convert to a double, TV, radio, fridge, phone, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. You will find plenty of storage space but you will also find that hanging space is limited.

There are three grades of suites where the space has been used effectively with a curtained division between the bedroom area and the living room. In these suites there is a whirlpool bath, separate shower stall, two TVs, VCR, a walk-in closet and a double length balcony. The ship has six deluxe suites and they are found in the aft of the ship and provides a spectacular view from the balcony. All mini suites facilities have a separate dining area, and butler service.

Dining
There is only one word for the food that served on the ship and that is excellent. This applies to choice, presentation and quality. There are two main dining rooms, - Ligurian and Atriatic and you will not find fault in both of these as they remain consistent in the food that they serve. On this ship you can have alternative restaurants with 24-hour dining. There are two restaurants where reservations are required - the Plaza Bistro and the Horizon Grill. Both of these restaurants have a surcharge for dining there. The individual dishes are very inventive with many fish and seafood options. The menu changes every four to five days.

Entertainment
If you are looking for more than a suntan on your cruise then you ve picked the right ship. You ll find a fine array of options such as dance classes, cooking demonstrations and galley tours and this is just for starters. You will also find art auctions, computer classes, and movies. You can also enjoy production shows and in the Starlight Lounge where you can treat yourself some productions as well as comedy and cabaret acts. There are also tennis courts, soccer and basketball, table tennis, golf nets and a golf simulator.

The Oasis Spa offers a small but well equipped fitness center, a large aerobics room and a beauty salon. In all of these you can see spectacular views from this vantage point. Oceana also has a main pool on deck 12 with a splash pool to be found on deck 15. You will also enjoy a variety of classes that are available during your cruise such as free aqua, step and salsa aerobics and mobility stretching.

Children are welcome on this ship and will be entertained by the fun pool, the video games and much more. There are supervised daily activities on port days as well as days that you remain on board. The dress code is casual but you can expect four or five formal nights on your cruise and the rest of the time smart casual is the way to dress. Recommended tipping is $6.50 per day, half goes to the Stewarts envelope and half goes to the restaurant waiters. On this ship you will not experience the standard 15% service charge that is usually added drink or wine bills.
