If you’re looking for a combination of charm and modern amenities on the cruise of a life time then the Oosterdam is the ship you’re looking for. From the moment you step on board you will be amazed at the beauty this ship holds. This is especially true as your eyes behold the centrepiece - a magnificent Waterford crystal globe that is displayed in a three story atrium. This gorgeous ship with it’s crew of 800 is awaiting your arrival to give you an experience in cruising that you have never experienced before.
Accommodations
Depending on what your taste and budget will allow the Oosterdam has something to suit every taste such as the lap of luxury Penthouse Veranda Suites that measure 1318 square feet including the balcony. This room has a king size bed, an oversized whirlpool bath and shower, a living room, a dressing room, a private veranda with a whirlpool, a pantry, a sofa bed that can accommodate two people, a microwave, a fridge, a guest toilet, a private stereo system, a DVD player, and beautiful floor to ceiling windows.
Then there is the deluxe veranda Suites with two beds that convert to a king size bed, a bathroom that boast a double sink, a full size whirlpool bath and shower with an additional shower stall, a large sitting area, a dressing room, a private veranda, a sofa bed that accommodates two extra people, a DVD player, and floor to ceiling windows that gives you an outstanding view. These rooms measure 510 square feet including a veranda. The Superior Deluxe Suites measure 389 square feet with two twin beds that convert to queen. It also has a double sink with a full size whirlpool bath and shower and additional shower stall, a large sitting area, a dressing room, a private veranda, a sofa bed for one person, a DVD player and floor to ceiling windows.
The Deluxe Veranda Outside Stateroom has two twin beds that convert to a queen, a bathtub and shower, a sitting area, a private veranda, and floor to ceiling windows with the same breathtaking view. These rooms measure 249 square feet. The large Outside Staterooms measure 185 square feet and have twin beds that convert to queen, a bath with shower, a partial view of the sea while some have obstructed views. Last but not least are the large or Standard Inside Staterooms with two twin beds that convert to a queen while the bathrooms have a shower. These measure 183 to 207 square feet.
Dining
Oosterdam offers the Vista Dining Room as the main dining room and you are in for another unique experience in this elegant room where the sounds of the chime master calls you to dinner. Here you can enjoy a five course meal where the service is as excellent as the food that is served. Listen to the sounds of the Quartet as you dine on such foods as seared sea scallops, filet mignon topped with crab and hollandaise sauce or one of the other excellent meals that are offered. You can also find a vegetarian menu and special diet needs can be met upon request. You can also enjoy a choice of four dinner settings.
If you’re looking for the ultimate in elegance, then the Pinnacle Grill is the place for you with its candlelight and elegant décor. This place oozes romance and creativity. The use of ingredients of the highest quality and innovative menus will give you an experience of a lifetime. This room is reservations only if you’re planning on a night alone. When you want a little more relaxed atmosphere, then look to the Lido Restaurant, which is a pool side restaurant. Here you will find a very extensive menu such as carved meats, seafood and much more. The Terrace grill offers an even more relaxed atmosphere where you can pick up a burger and fries, tacos and hot dogs.
Entertainment
Oosterdam offers something for everyone in its line of entertainment such as the Vista Show Lounge which offers Las Vegas style productions along with talented vocalists, illusionists, comedians and many variety acts. Drop by the casino for an evening of all the fun you can handle, where you can play the tables or the slots and walk away a winner even if you lose with the amount of fun you will have there. Every evening the Crow’s Nest bar comes to life with music and dancing where you can dance to the wee hours of the morning.
For those of you that are looking for the ultimate relaxation, try the Greenhouse Spa and Salon where you can indulge in one of the treatment rooms that are available along with breathtaking views. After you can enjoy what the beauty salon has to offer. Drop by the fitness centre for the workout of a lifetime on the state of the art equipment that is offered there and if this is not enough then take a walk or a jog on the track that’s provided. You can cool off by using one of the pools that are available.
This ship is definitely family friendly with the programs that’s offered for children and is bound to keep them busy during the voyage to ensure they have just as much fun as you do. They also offer babysitting for a small surcharge.
