Paul Gauguin Description

Paul Gauguin

If you love the French Polynesian Islands, then the Paul Gauguin is the ship that will take you there in style. As soon as you step onboard you will get the definite feeling of the islands and their culture. This ship is small enough to navigate where other ships dare not go and the décor will entice a magical feeling as you gaze at photos of ancient Tahiti and look through the museum that‘s on board. She is a floating tribute to the wonderful islands she visits. This ship is both homey and elegant and is waiting for you to join her on the voyage that will take your breath away with beauty. Explore the 7 passenger decks of this ship and find delights at every turn. With a grew of 211 waiting to pamper you beyond pampering, then this will easily be the cruise of a lifetime.

Accommodations

The Paul Gauguin only has a total of 180 accommodations of which 80 are Suites with balconies and 80 are cabins with an ocean view but no balconies. The comfort level is extremely high on this wonderful ship with bright and cheery cabins that have twin beds that turn into queen when necessary, television and VCR, mini fridges stocked with free soda, a safe, a telephone and a separate sitting area. The bathrooms have large bathtubs and waffle robes are offered. There are some toiletries provided.

There are two kinds of outside staterooms - one is with a picture window and the other a porthole. They measure 202 square feet while the Veranda staterooms measure 249 square feet with a 56 foot balcony. The Deluxe Ocean View Suites measure 300 square feet and have a 58 foot balcony. The Grand Suites measure 332 square feet and have a balcony that measures 197 square feet. The Owner’s Suite is the largest measuring 457 square feet with a 77square foot balcony. All of these come with more than ample storage space.

Dining

There is open seating on this ship so you can dine when and wherever you feel the need and not on some schedule. This ship offers the Paris style dining at the L’Etoile where they serve classical French cuisine and the La Veranda offers two alternating French menus. La Veranda also serves breakfast and lunch and it is outstanding. You have the choice to order off the menu here or choose from a well done buffet. Beer and soda are free with all meals. Le Grill is the poolside casual eatery and is open for reservations. You can also find breakfast and lunch here as well as at the La Paulette.

Entertainment

Once a week you will be treated to an onshore party on one of the islands but the entertainment onboard is somewhat low key. However, there are some things you can attend if you have the energy after your day trip ashore. You will not find any Broadway productions here, but you will find a singer and pianist in the La Paulette and in many other places around the ship. The highlight of this cruise will be when some Polynesian dancers come onboard to give you an evening of entertainment. For the die-hard cruisers, you will find that there the La Paulette does turn into a disco in the late evening where you can dance the night away.

This ship also carries retractable water sports and this is an excellent way to spend the day. You can dive into the clear waters of the islands and all gear is free except for the gear you would use for scuba diving, which is available for a fee.

This ship is not recommended for children as there are no programs in place at all for them. The dress code is casual except for the Captains welcoming dinner. All tipping is included in the cruise package.
