This ship has taken a kicking in the past due to it’s poor food, service and amenities, but it is in the past. Today the Pride of Aloha is proud to announce that all the mistakes of the past have been corrected and now this ship is ready to give its guests an unforgettable experience in cruising. As you board you will be made welcome by the 920 crew members that will make you feel right at home and are gladly waiting to pamper you for your every need. You will enjoy exploring the 11 decks that this ship carries and be amazed at the Hawaiian colours used throughout the ship’s décor. Even on the outside of the ship on the hull, there is a colourful lei which can be seen for miles.
Accommodations
The Pride of Aloha boasts 1001 accommodations of which 14 are suites with balconies, 243 have balconies and an ocean view, 315 have no balconies, but do have an ocean view and there are 429 inside cabins. The inside units are a little on the small side, measuring 121 square feet, outside and balcony staterooms measure 152 square feet. The balcony adds another 50 square feet to the total. The bathrooms have shower only, with shampoo and gel provided.
There are 10 Penthouses that features two separate rooms. The bathroom, at about 311 square feet screams luxurious with a bathtub plus a whirlpool. They have TV’s, VCR’s and balconies that are furnished with patio furniture. Then there are the Owner’s Suites, which are twice the size of the Penthouse. These feature a living room with a dining area, balcony and private hot tubs. All passengers get butler service.
Dining
The Freestyle dining options go over really well on this cruise ship. The ship has two main dining rooms - the Palace and Crossings and both of these are fee free. They are open for lunch and breakfast everyday and tables for two are plentiful. The usual foods are served for breakfast with a few added surprise dishes or you can choose a made to order breakfast. At lunch, you will find a few hot dishes as well as salads. There are also vegetarian foods you can order. The Hukilau Cafe is the buffet restaurant on this ship and is open for three meals everyday. You can also enjoy buffet breakfast and lunch on the pool deck.
The Kahili is elegant and narrow and carries a $15.00 surcharge, but is well worth the money. The same thing applies to the Pacific Heights which serves Asian food and has a $12.50 surcharge. The Royal Palm Bistro is the most romantic on the ship. There is also 24 hour room service which is fairly limited.
Entertainment
Just for starters this ship has 13 lounges and bars. The Outriggers is known to have passengers run their fingers over the ivory keys in the lounge here. The Plantation is surrounded by windows that give an outstanding view. Club Captain Cooks Bar is a meeting place for drinks and is surrounded by windows it too provides passengers with a panoramic view. At the Cigar Bar, you will find a pianist playing some enticing tunes. The Blue Hawaii has a band that will get any age passenger up on the dance floor for a night of fun.
On Tuesday afternoon you’re in for a treat as the ship takes you on a scenic tour of Kauai’s Na Pali Coast and on Wednesday you can enjoy a ride to the Kauaia volcano on the big island. The excursions on shore are really exceptional.
Visit the Body Waves Fitness Centre, where you can enjoy the spa and take advantage of the state of the art fitness equipment. There are two swimming pools, as well as four hot tubs and a shallow children’s pool. Many of the standard games are offered as well as golf driving nets, volley and basketball and much, much more.
This ship is kid orientated with all the programs that available to families. Babysitting is also available as well as children’s menus. Resort casual is the dress code and the tips are $10.00 per person per day. This covers everything except the drinks you order and then you have to tip. At the spa there is a 10 per cent service fee.
