Radiance of the Seas Description

Radiance of the Seas

The first thing that will strike you as you board the radiance of the Seas is the class and savvy it carries not to mention the wonderful crew of 857 that sails along with her. Every deck of the 12 passenger decks holds a different look around every corner. This ship has a spectacular use of glass along with many other different features, such as a self levelling pool and rock wall climbing and this is just for starters. You will have the cruise of a lifetime in this floating hotel. Get ready for as much activity as you can handle and loads of entertainment in addition to the wonderful onshore trips.

Accommodations

This ship carries a total of 1056 accommodations of which 64 are Suites with balconies, 513 have balconies plus an ocean view. 236 have an ocean view, but no balconies and 238 are inside cabins. The most luxurious of the suites is the Royal , which measures in at 1054.55 square foot with an added 172.23 square foot on the balcony. This Suite has it all with a baby Grand piano, a wet bar, an entertainment centre that boasts a 42 inch flat screen TV, a stereo and VCR, a bath with a whirlpool, a bidet and a steam shower.

The middle of the road cabins measure in at 179 square feet, with a 41 square foot balcony. The inside cabins measure 166 square feet . All cabins have internet ports so if you want to bring your lap top along it won’t be a problem. You will find that there is a nice selection of cabins that are wheel chair accessible.

Dining

Cascades is the main dining room on this ship and is a very elegant room to dine in. It is a two level restaurant with a Grand staircase, impressive columns and of course, a waterfall. There are two alternative dining rooms which are Breakers and Tides. Breakfast and lunch offers open seating but dinner is in two sittings. Ship Shape menus are offered for those that want to watch their food and there is also a vegetarian menu.

There is also Chops Grill where you can get a mean steak or of course, chops and another is the Portofino. Both of these restaurants take reservations and there is a surcharge of $20.00 on both, but well worth the extra money for a different dining experience. Windjammer Café is a place you can dine with no surcharge or reservations needed. It serves breakfast and lunch served buffet style. The Seafood Café offers fast food and there is also a 24hour room service.

Entertainment

The décor of some of the rooms can be entertainment enough such as the Aurora Theatre with sculptured balconies and side walls that resemble glacial landscapes. Here you can enjoy revues such as the Rockin in Paradise or try the Hollywood Odyssey Nightclub that offers comedians, jazz, pianists and vocalists. The Cinema offers movies in the evening or you can dance until the wee hours of the morning at the Starquest Disco. Find an interactive game at Scoreboards, a game of pool at the Bombay Billiard Club, which has self levelling pool tables. Schooner’s Bar or Singapore Slings offer piano music and Casino Royale offers a night of gambling at one of their many tables or slot machines.

Solarium offers, for starters, three life size stone elephants, a water fall and greenery. It also has a raised pool with two whirlpools. You can find both a bar and a pizzeria within this room. The Ship Shape Spa is divided into three sections and measures a whopping 15,500 square feet. You will find that the exercise equipment is plentiful and the views that you experience while you do so are spectacular. There is also a beauty salon. There are many challenges here besides the ordinary exercising and you will find this at the rock climbing wall or golf simulators. There is basketball as well as volleyball to help give you a work out.

This ship welcomes families and has many programs that the children can participate in. This includes a Computer lab, an outdoor area, a play station and much more. On this ship you will have two formal nights and the dress code for the rest of the time is casual. Tipping is $3.50 per person per day for the dining room waiter and the cabin steward, $2.00 per person per day for the assistant waiter and 75 cents a day for the head waiter. Bar bills are usually 15 percent charge for tipping.
