Regal Princess Description

Regal Princess

You are not cruising on the Love Boat when you are on the Regal Princess, but it is as close as you’ll ever get when you step aboard. You’ll be far removed from the hustle and bustle of the bigger ships. This ship is considered a classic with a plus. Take your time and explore the 11 passenger decks and with a crew of 696 you will be well pampered and they will see to your every need. This ship, due to its smaller size, can take you to ports that other ships can’t enter, which is a plus for any traveler.

Accommodations

The Regal has a total of 795 accommodations for you to choose from, of which 50 are Suites with balconies, 134 with balconies and an ocean view, 440 with no balconies but an ocean view and 171 inside cabins. Only 30 percent of the Regal outsides have verandas and they sell out very quickly. Ocean views are large with a desk for makeup or writing and all staterooms feature television, fridges and two very large closets.

Ocean view cabins measure 190 square feet and most of them have a queen bed that converts to twin if necessary. There are some with a lower bed and an upper berth and are about 158 square feet. The ocean view doubles with verandas measure 210 square feet. The 36 mini suites measure 366 square feet and there are 14 Suites that measure 558 square feet. The mini suites have a sitting area and tub and shower and the suites also have a very large walk-in closet.

Dining

Regal’s only main dining room is the Palm Court and this operates on the traditional seating time, but you will find open seating for breakfast and lunch. Here you will taste the delights of eggplant and other dishes that will melt in your mouth. There is an alternative restaurant, which is called Café Del Sol. This transforms into a Bistro at night and it serves a buffet breakfast lunch and dinner.

The poolside grill also serves yummy hamburgers and hot dogs for a quick snack. You’ll find Bravo a very casual place to eat and you can order all the pizza that you need. They are open just about around the clock. There is also 24 hour room service, which is a bit limited, but they serve enough to get you through until it is time for a meal.

Entertainment

There ase plenty of things to keep you busy during this cruise besides the regular thing such as bingo, trivia, bridge and regular games. You can take lessons in Tango dancing, photography, folding napkins or learning Spanish. There is all kinds of music played in the lounges and bars at night and you will even find it in the Atrium.

Try the Dome Casino and Nightclub for an evening of entertainment where the view is free and you can choose from betting tables or one of the many slots that you will find there. You can also relax in the Card Room where there are games like scrabble and plenty of decks of cards.

The International Show Lounge offers a talent show put on by the crew, plus a production show called “Shake Rattle and Roll” which is very entertaining. The Stage Door is the ships disco so if you want to dance into the wee hours of the morning add this to your list of things to do.

There are two pools on this ship plus two whirlpools. You can enjoy the Lotus Spa and Fitness Centre, where you can try the Aroma stone for a massage you won’t forget. At the fitness centre, there is more than enough equipment to keep you fit during your voyage.

This is not a ship that is recommended for children although you will find some children’s programs in place. However, with a cruise of a minimum ten days children could become very bored. The cruise has two formal nights which you should bring tux and gown for, but during the day it is resort casual. There is a general $10.00 fee for tipping and this covers everything except the bars where a 15 percent tip will be added to your bar bill.
