Regatta Description

Regatta

Regatta is a ship that concentrates on ports of calls to make their passengers happy rather than what they can offer onboard. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t get all that you expect on a cruise on this ship and probably even more at the fantastic prices of this cruise ship. You will be made very welcome by the 400 crew members that make Regatta their home and they are waiting to see to your every need from the time you board to the time you disembark. Explore the 9 decks of this wonderful ship where you’ll find a surprise around every turn especially since Oceania gave the Regatta a ten million dollar face lift.

Accommodations

Regatta offers 342 accommodations in all categories. This includes 62 Suites with balconies,170 with balconies and an ocean view, 85 with no balcony but an ocean view and 25 inside cabins. Ocean view and inside cabins measure 158 and 162 square feet. In every cabin, you will find the Tranquility Bed, which is the sleep system the Oceania line is using, a 21 inch TV, and two night tables. The space is a bit on the minimum size but certainly doable on a cruise. The bathrooms are small, but very well organized so that you will find neat little shelves in places you don’t expect. You will find a terry robe and lots of fluffy towels.

The Veranda Staterooms measure 216 square feet and are furnished with the same kind of bedding as the other rooms but you do get a desk and chair, a love seat and a small coffee table. Penthouses measure 322 square feet while Vista Suites measure 786 and Owner’s Suites measure 962 square feet. All of these suites have marble bathrooms, with the penthouse having whirlpools and other amenities. Vista’s and Owner’s Suites have spacey wrap around balconies.

Dining

Good food and good service is what you’ll get in any place you choose to dine on the Regatta. The Grand dining room is the most beautiful and also very intimate. Here you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner and you can order from the usual to the very unusual. Adjacent to the pool you will find The Terrace, which is a favourite for breakfast, although you can dine here for lunch and dinner as well.

You will find that the Pogo Grill is the most intimate of the three dining rooms. Then the Toscana comes with a fantastic view while you dine. The Terrace Café turns into Tapas on the Terrace in the evenings. Here you can choose from dozens of bold flavours and textures. These restaurants need reservations, but there is no surcharge on them. Horizons offers pastries, tea and coffee in the afternoon, which is popular with the passengers.

Entertainment

Horizons also offers nightly entertainment in the form of an orchestra and string quartet. There is plenty of song and dance and some cool jazz.

Regatta also offers the usual games and contests that you will find on all cruises. You will find there is more emphasis on days in port than on nights at sea. The pool will give you a place to swim as well as a welcoming atmosphere. The spa offers a excellent menu of treatments as well as a beauty salon. For a fee, you can get Yoga lessons, but it is only one on one. There are no specified children’s programs in place, but they can play things like shuffleboard and ping pong. The dress code is casual and there is no formal night dinners. Tipping is $10.50 per person per day with an additional $3.00 for butler service.
