This ship will join the Princess fleet in April of 2007 and Princess Cruise Lines are looking forward to making many cruisers happy when this event takes place. This ship exudes elegance and comfort and will continue to do so when it joins the Princess fleet. It is as casual as it is elegant giving you the best of both worlds in cruising. All of the restaurants operate on an open seating bases. This ship right now is very English and it is expected that when Princess takes this ship over there will be a lot of changes made to Americanize this wonderful floating hotel. You can look forward to exploring the 11 passenger decks that this ship has to offer and find new delights around every corner. With the addition of it’s 696 crew members to make you happy, it should prove to be a very exciting cruise.
Accommodations
The Royal Princess carries a total of 795 accommodations. There are 50 Suites with balconies, 134 with balconies and an ocean view, 440 with no balcony but an ocean view and 171 inside cabins. Standard outside and inside cabins measure 162 square feet, while cabins with balconies measure 214 square feet and have extras such as coffee makers and slippers. You will find six Owner Suites that measure 952 square feet and four Master Suites that measure781 square feet. In these, there are extras such as a CD player, a dining table and a mini bar. All other cabins do not have fridges.
All cabins have television, queen beds that convert to twin, and a selection of TV channels, but mostly British programming at the moment. All cabins have showers except for the suites, which have bathtubs. The bathrooms are compact, but very functional and bathrobes are provided to all guests.
Dining
The food on this ship is exquisite and it is open seating so the guests can mix and mingle at will. There are four main restaurants, such as the Dining Room that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Bridge Grill, which is elegant and charming and serves a buffet.
At the Grill you certainly get a steakhouse ambiance and the Swan offers Mediterranean foods. You will also find a barbecue by the poolside that makes hotdogs, burgers and fries. There is limited room service, but the Bridge Café does serve afternoon tea.
Entertainment
The entertainment offered on this ship right now is very low key, but Princess will take care of that when the change over occurs as they are noted for the amount of entertainment offer and the children’s programs that are available. At present you will find a few comedy shows offered and a pianist. The staff also puts a show on for the guests
There is one main pool with two whirlpools. On a deck above is a walking track and there is a more private pool outside the spa. When you visit the spa, you will be delighted with how low key this place is, which gives you the opportunity to just relax. There is also enough exercise equipment to help keep you in shape while you’re on your trip.
The dress code seems to be resort casual in the day time with dress up in the evening. Right now the tipping is included in your trip and it is neither expected or discouraged.
