Sensation is the name of this ship, but it is also a good word to describe what is in store for you when you board this glorious ship to cruise out to sea. This ship may be a little more mature than the luxury liners of today, but you won’t be missing a thing with what the 920 members of the crew have ready and waiting for you. Explore the 10 decks of this beautiful ship and see something different on every deck. This ship is a great value for first time cruisers as well as families. There is a variety of laughs and fun in store for anyone that comes onboard.
Accommodations
Sensation offers cabins that measure 185 square feet, while the ocean view cabins measure 190 square feet. Most of them have king size beds that can convert to two twin beds if needed. All the rooms boast the Carnival comfort sleep system to ensure you have sweet dreams. There are delightful duvets and fluffy pillows and the lighting is very good, but you have to bring your own hair dryer.
Ocean view cabins provide bathrobes, but only suites have verandas. All cabins have a safe, closet and drawer space is more than adequate. There are televisions and all accommodations come with the standard amenities. For the handicapped there are 20 cabins which are wheelchair accessible.
Dining
Dining on the Sensation can be an exotic experience with meals arranged by chef Georges Blanc. The Sea Food Bar and Grill on Lido deck serves fantastic food. There is also a 24 hour pizzeria where you can get not only pizza, but also other foods.
Lunch can range from a salad to a full course meal at the Sea View Cafeteria. The Patisserie on the Promenade Deck offers great teas, coffee and baked goodies. There is also 24 hour room service onboard. If you are one of the late nighters, then drop by the Midnight Buffet, which serves all kinds of wondrous foods.
Entertainment
It is easy to see why this is called a fun ship. Whether you’re taking spinning classes or jogging around the track you are bound to have a good time and there is so much more to Sensation. Drop into A Touch of Class for an evening of fun and entertainment. The Club Vegas Casino will certainly give you a run for your money and you will leave a winner with the fun you’ve had even if you lose. There are many tables and slot machines for you to try. The Fantasia Lounge has Vegas style shows, where the productions are intense and energetic. There is also a late night comedy show held in the Plaza Lounge, but it is for adults only. If your preference is classical music, then you will find that in the atrium.
For exercise and massages, try the Carnival Spa that will take care of all your needs. While you’re there, try the state of the art exercise equipment. Golf is available and you can even hire a golf pro to help you with your swing, along with golf lessons if you wish. Don’t pass up the nine hole mini golf that this ship carries. You can visit the pools where there is always something happening.
This ship holds all the usual games and contest plus some others. There are lots of things to keep the whole family busy during the day and evening. The dress code is casual but you cannot wear shorts and a tank top at dinner. There is one formal night per cruise where a suit and tie for men and a dress for women will do nicely. Bar bills include a 15 per cent tip the rest is $10.00 per person per day, which covers the waiters and cabin stewards.
