Serenade of the Seas Description

Serenade of the Seas

The Serenade of the Seas is a midsize ship but you’ll soon find that what it offers is not mid size but an experience you won’t forget in activities, entertainment and dining. This ship is so flexible it can sail to or from any region. It is excellent for all ages and especially families. The most interesting part of this ship’s décor is the amount of glass used. You can enjoy spectacular views from any public room on the ship and all this is done with elegance and grace. The 12 Passenger decks have something new at every turn and it’s crew of 891 will pamper you like you’ve never been pampered before.

Accommodations

The Serenade carries a total of 1055 accommodations for its passengers of which 60 are Suites with balconies, 529 with balconies and an ocean view, 240 with no balconies but they have an ocean view, and 238 inside cabins. Your choice of cabins totally depends on you . There are cosy, yet basic inside cabins right up to literally the lap of luxury accommodations.

Standard cabins offer the usual lay out and amenities where the family cabins offer a living room with two bedrooms. In all cabins you will find television, a mini fridge and room service around the clock. The Suites with balconies are a bit larger and you can go right to the top of the line where you get a butler to tend to your every need but keep in mind there’s a price to be paid for everything.

Dining

The main dining room is Reflections and it spans two decks. This restaurant offers open seating for breakfast and lunch, but assigned seating at dinner. You will find the food excellent and you can also a midnight once on every cruise. Windjammer is where you’ll find buffets and is a perfect place to grab breakfast or lunch. This buffet offers lots of stations rather than just one. The Seaview Café offers bar food and one spectacular view. The Solarium Café features many choices for quick snacks which are healthful as well as naughty.

The specialty restaurants are Chops and Portofinos. Chops is a very upscale steakhouse and Portofinos is a very elegant Italian restaurant and the most romantic place on the ship. There is a surcharge of $20.00 which is worth every penny to dine in either of these fabulous places. When you dine here the ship’s dress code is out the window. Here you have to wear smart casual.

Entertainment

This ship has entertainment for everyone such as cultural education, wine tasting, photography seminars, blackjack tournaments, horse races, elaborate production shows, and an informal dance night at the atrium.

The Hollywood Odyssey shouldn’t be missed with its beatnik feel with live music. The Vortex offers all types of music during the evening and the Casino Royal offers all types of betting tables as well as slots for your entertainment. The Schooner is a friendly bar with a very pleasing atmosphere. There is also the Champagne Bar, which you may enjoy, although this place is not a busy one. Drop by the Safari Club, where you can shoot pool or play cards.

The Ship Shape Fitness Centre is nothing short of excellent in every way. The equipment is top of the line and there is enough of it for every one. You can jog on the track around the Sky Bar. There are all kinds of fitness classes as well as a fitness trainer. You will find the spa facilities excellent and the décor is absolutely beautiful. The usual games and contest are also offered by the staff.

Yes! This ship welcomes families with children and the programs that you’ll find in place proves that it is ready to keep them involved and active while they are on board. They even have private babysitting in the evening for a fee of $5.00 an hour.

You can expect one formal night on this ship per cruise for which the dress code calls for smart casual. All other times is just casual. Tipping is $3.50 per person per day for the dining room waiter and the cabin steward, $2.00 per person per day for the assistant waiter, and seventy five cents per person per day for the headwaiter. Bar bills come with a 15 percent tip added in.
