Enjoy a ship of suites, all with an ocean view, on the Seabourn Spirit. The ship is an ultra-luxury liner that carries only 208 guests and gives them all superb, individual service. Enjoy free champagne and caviar and be escorted into the dining room by the waiter. The shore excursions are top of the line and guests are treated to one free shore event per cruise. The use of the watersports equipment is free, but you do have to pay a small fee for fitness classes. The six decks of this ship are waiting for you to explore and find the hidden treasures each one has.
Accommodations
There are no complaints about not having a view as all the suites on the Seabourn Spirit do have an ocean view. Some have balconies where you can actually dine outdoors. They are quite spacious with walk-in closets, and large marble bathrooms. Hair dryers, robes and slippers are provided and each room has a complimentary bar, a small sitting area and a coffee table that you can raise and use as a table. Some of the larger suites have private verandas and there are four suites that can be combined into two if you are travelling as a group. Passengers can also choose from a selection of designer soaps and aromatherapy bath salts. The TV’s in the rooms are flat screen and the Bose Wave sound system offers exceptional sound quality for your listening pleasure.
Dining
The food served on the Seabourn Spirit will give you the feeling that you are dining in one of the best restaurants in the world. With open seating, you can sit where you please. The menus have multi courses prepared in consultation with Chef Charlie Palmer. The choices on the menu are mind-boggling so you can have a completely different meal on each day of your cruise. The desserts are scrumptious and you can indulge in as many different kinds as you wish. Of course, there is a light menu if you are watching your figure and there is always a chef’s choice.
You do need to make reservations at the Veranda Café, where the menus are themed, such as French, Mediterranean or some other International cuisine. At this restaurant, you never have to dress up, even when it is formal night. You also have the opportunity to dine outside.
Order from the menu and dine in your room or if you wish to dine late, then you can order through the 24-hour room service. You can go to either of the restaurants for breakfast and lunch or even order these as well. On some days, when weather permits, burgers are served on the deck.
Entertainment
Enjoy trying your luck in the casino or dancing in the Club. This is also the venue for before and after dinner drinks. You will enjoy the panoramic views from the Horizon Lounge, which is also the setting for afternoon tea. The Broadway performance at the Amundsen Lounge is very enjoyable and this venue does not have any obstructed views of the stage. Watch a movie on the sun deck, take part in the usual array of games and contests during the day or curl up with a good book from the library.
At the fitness center, you can work out on one of the machines, pamper yourself with a massage or treatment or have your hair done at the beauty salon. There are guest lecturers, cooking demonstration, wine tasting classes and more to keep you occupied. When the ship is in port, you can avail of the watersports marina that the crew will lower.
Since this ship is designed for couples, you won’t see many children on this ship. When they are there, the crew will try to accommodate them, but for the most part this is left up to the parents.
