The Star Princess offers a wide variety of on board features that will appeal to any age, which makes this ship quite diverse. On this ship you will get a choice of traditional or contemporary cruising. Explore the 14 passenger decks that will be waiting for you and you’ll find surprises around every turn. Star Princess carries a crew of 1200 and they are all awaiting your arrival to spoil you rotten. On this ship there is a wedding chapel and also an Internet service through which folks at home could watch the ceremony. It has many unique facets and they are all there for you to enjoy.
Accommodations
There is a total of 1301 accommodations for you to choose from. 205 are suites with balconies, 502 are ocean views with balconies, 228 are ocean views, but no balconies and 366 inside cabins.
They are separated into four different categories. 1096 are inside and outside cabins, but out of these 711 do have balconies. You will find 22 Suites that have separate sitting areas and a sofa bed. Then there are 180 mini suites and two family interconnecting suites. There is also one Grand Suite. All the cabins come with a television and a remote with a good variety of channels.
Dining
The best thing about the Star Princess besides the delicious food is that you can choose from traditional dining or Personal Choice Dining. You can dine at the Portofino or the Capri with open seating, but the Amalfi is reserved for those that rather dine in the traditional manner.
There are alternative restaurants offered on this ship such as Sabatini’s, which offers an awesome meal with the serving of a multi course dinner. There is a $20.00 surcharge per passenger, but it is worth every penny with the feast of food served. The second place is Sterling Steakhouse with a surcharge of $15.00, but you will leave this place with a smile of satisfaction on your face.
You will find that most of the Lido Deck is filled with food options. The Trident Grill offers burgers and hotdogs during the day and the same with Prego’s, but there you will find pizza. Then there is the Horizon Court that serves up a buffet for breakfast and lunch and continues into dinner when it is converted to a bistro. There is also a 24 hour room service onboard.
Entertainment
In the evening you can attend one of the many productions that take place in the Princess Theatre. This room is also the centre for many major variety shows. The Vista Lounge has a dual purpose. It is used for a cinema and also hosts live performance venues. If you want to burn off some energy in the evening, then dance the night away at Explorer’s Lounge. There is a disco called Skywalker’s that will keep you busy on the dance floor.
This ship has two main pools, which are the Neptune Reef and the Conservatory, which has a retractable roof. The Oasis Spa and Pool is very peaceful and secluded if you find the other pools a bit busy. The Lotus Spa is where you will find total peace and relaxation after receiving one of their massages. You will find a jogging track on the deck above and you will find lots of the regular games and activities to keep you busy during the day. There are many programs in place for children as the Star a very family friendly ship.
There are two formal nights on this ship, where you will need a gown and tux, but the rest of the time is smart casual. Tipping is $10.00 per day per person and this covers everything except the bar bills, for which a 15 percent tip is expected.
