The Statendam not only offers you the best in cruising but it also carries two million dollars worth of art and artifacts. The Van Gough Theatre is a work of art within itself with its state of the art sound system and the fibre optic lighting. These features make this an art onto itself. This is just for starters because you will have so much more to do and see. The centre of the ship holds the three story atrium with its elaborate 26 foot high Fountain of the Siren sculpture. This beautiful ship carries 1258 passengers and a crew of 557 to pamper and take care of everyone of them. You will find yourself in want of nothing right through the voyage.
Accommodations
This ship has something for everyone regardless of your budget. Starting with the Penthouse Veranda Suite which measures in at 1159 square feet and offers such things as a king size bed, an oversized bath, shower and whirlpool, a living room, a dining room, a dressing room, a private veranda, a pantry, a sofa bed that accommodates two people, a mini bar, a fridge, a guest toilet, and floor to ceiling windows for a fantastic view that is priceless. The Deluxe Veranda Suites have the same amenities as the Penthouse, but there is a little less room with these measuring 556 square feet.
The Veranda Suites measure 292 square feet and have 2 lower beds that convert to a Queen size bed, a whirlpool bath and shower, a sitting area, a private veranda, a mini bar, a fridge and floor to ceiling windows. The large Outside Staterooms offer two lower beds that turn into a queen and have the same amenities of the veranda suites except for the windows. In these Suites some have partial views while others have obstructed views and cabins have portholes instead of windows. Standard inside rooms have a queen size beds and a shower and measure 182 square feet.
Dining
This will be the experience of a lifetime as you dine at the Rotterdam Dining room. The gentle call of the chime master will give you four different times that you can choose to dine. This is the main dining room of the Statendam where you are presented with a five course meal on china that is of the finest and crisp white linens on the tables. You will find the food as excellent as the severs that serve them. You will also be offered an extensive wine list that you’ll not find on any other cruise. Fresh herbs and imaginative combinations offer you a delight in dining. Here you can find a vegetarian menu as well as low carb.
The Pinnacle Grill is the place you want to be if you’re looking for intense romance. This wonderful place oozes romance as well as elegance and sophistication. This elite dining room offers such things as Sterling Silver Beef or Cedar-planked halibut. This is all served on the best of china under the glow of candlelight. It would be wise to make all dining reservations when you come aboard.
The Lido restaurant is a little more relaxing with its pool and terrace on one side and the ocean all around you. It carries an extensive menu such as carved meat, fresh seafood and so much more and you will find the service just as good as the food you eat. You can start your day here with breakfast then follow it up with lunch. In the evening you can enjoy made to order entrees with a tableside waiter. Here you can dine indoors or enjoy the fresh air on the deck. The Terrace Grill is the place to totally relax while you eat here you can order from menus or pick up a burger, hot dogs or tacos.
Entertainment
If you are the type of person that loves a party then this is the ship for you. Drop into the Ocean Bar for a night of dancing. The Crows Nest is a observation place during the day but at night it comes alive with music and dancing. The Queen’s Lounge offers Las Vegas style productions as well as soloists, comedians and magical shows. If you feel like an evening of sports then the Sports Bar is the place for you. Watch your favourite sport while you sip on a cool one. If you want a little casino action then there is a casino that offers different kinds of tables and slots where you can have a load of fun. If you like to shop then this ship will not disappoint you.
The Fitness Centre offers State of the Art equipment that will keep you in shape during your cruise or take a jog around the track. Try one of the sports courts that you’ll find here which include tennis, volleyball or basketball. After a workout cool off in one of the pools. The Greenhouse Spa and Salon will take care of all your needs when it comes to relaxation. Pampering is not sufficient to describe how you will be treated here. There are relaxing treatment rooms that will make you feel like a new person.
Children are made very welcome on this ship and this shows by the amount of programming that is offered. The staff of this ship will make sure your child is taken care of which leaves you more time to enjoy yourself.
