You can dream more than a little dream - you can live your dream onboard the Veendam. This ship that oozes elegance will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime and will be talked about for years in the future. On the Veendam you will be privy to the most modern advances in guest amenities. She is designed to carry 1,258 guest and provides spacious comfort for every one of them. The beauty of this ship alone is worth the trip but this ship has much more to offer as you’ll see from the time you sail away into the sunset. With a crew of 560 members to tend on you hand and foot it will be an unforgettable experience.
Accommodations
The Veendam has many types of accommodations to choose from starting with the Penthouse Veranda Suite which offers 1159 square feet of space along with a king size bed, an oversized whirlpool bath and shower, a living room, a dining room, a dressing room, a private veranda, a pantry, a sofa that sleeps two people, a mini bar, a fridge, a guest toilet and wonderful floor to ceiling windows.
The Deluxe Veranda Suites offer the same thing as the Penthouse but have less space as they measure 556 square feet. Veranda Suites offer queen size beds that convert to two twin beds, but you still get the whirlpool bath and shower, a sitting area, a private veranda, a mini bar, a fridge, and the floor to ceiling windows. These measure 292 square feet. Large Outside Staterooms have a queen size bed, bathtub and shower, and a partial view of the ocean with some having fully obstructed views. These measure 197 square feet. The Standard Inside cabins measure 182 square feet and have a queen size bed and a shower.
Dining
Imagine dining in the most elegant of dining rooms with servers at your every beck and call and service as excellent as the food that you eat. Well this can be a reality onboard the Veendam. The Main Dining Room offers you the opportunity to dine in a restaurant where food is beyond the standard of excellence. Bite into their Sterling Silver Beef or taste the terrific flavour of Cedar-planked Halibut and Dungeness Crab Cakes. This is served on fine china with Frette linen on your table and the best cutlery at your table. Choose from an extensive wine list that you will only find with the Holland America fleet.
Now picture yourself in the most romantic room that you’ll ever have the pleasure of dining in, with candlelight softly falling on your table for two and a wine list that has no end and food that will delight your palette with every bite. There are two waiters at your table to provide anything you wish to have. This will give you just a little of what you’ll experience in the Pinnacle Grill. You will also be surrounded with unbelievable views of the ocean as you sail through the waves. You will dine on Rosenthal China placed on crisp fresh linen. This is dining at its finest. For both of these places it is wise to book reservations when you board and you will have the choice of four time sittings in the evening.
If you’re looking for a little more relaxed atmosphere, try the Lido restaurant where there is an ocean view all around. You can order from a full menu or and vegetarian and low carb foods are also available. For the ultimate place in casual dining, there is the Terrace Grill where you can get such things as hot dogs, burgers and tacos.
Entertainment
From the time you come onboard this beautiful ship you will be entertained with sights such as the version of Jacob’s Ladder Stairway to Heaven version found in the three story atrium as a spiral of cut crystal climbs from floor to ceiling. The Explorations café is also a unique place to spend some time where you can get a coffee and read a newspaper or browse through one of the most extensive libraries found at sea. Here you can get in touch with the outside world if you feel the need by internet.
The Greenhouse spa will give you the ultimate in relaxation as you try their hydrotherapy pool, Turkish bath, private treatment rooms and there is also a beauty salon to take care of your needs. The Fitness Centre offers a fine array of state of the art equipment to keep you fit during your voyage and there is a jogging track. You need to book your appointments early to enjoy this little bit of heaven.
For a night of fun drop by the casino where you will be able to indulge in Table games, slots, Bingo, lottery, and Tournaments. You will definitely leave a winner with the wonderful night you will have. If you love dancing and music then the Crow’s Nest is the place for you, used as a observatory during the day this wonderful place explodes at night with a fully equipped DJ and bandstands. With the state of the art lighting and sound system you will dance away the night to the wee hours of the morning.
